Sherry Keim's Little People Shoppe, in Pickwick Square, will be moving, practically next door, into the recently vacated Mr. Pickwick location. The popular children s store needs more room to expand its quality line of clothing to sizes 714, a range not readily available in this area. Last Thursday. September 2. marked the 30th year that Griffith's Wawasee Marina, on the east shore of Lake W’awasee, has been in business. The delivery truck at the Car Parts Depot, in Wawasee Village, is not distinguishable by any signs on the doors or even a special paint job. but by a big yellow and blue NAPA hat on the roof. Unique, indeed! The Three Flags Drive-In. Wawasee Village, will be closed all day Wednesday, September 15. to allow time for the parking lot to be resurfaced But don’t worry, it will be open again on Thursday. The Douglas family (he's Rev. Tom of Church of God) does a play on the name Douglas Their son, the Rev of South Whitley, is Douglas L Douglas, and his son is Douglas Nathan Douglas The senior Douglases have another son. Rev. Robert Bowen and Martin Dider The newly-formed group has as one of its prime objectives the establishment of sewers around the area lakes. Many local lake residents have expressed concern for conservation and any method of preventing further pollution of our lakes How much physical action have we seen 0 One lake concerned group has put their idle chatter into action. On Sunday. Sept. 12. the Turkey Creek Conservation club has organised a Wawasee Shallows Clean-up Day. They will be using snorkles and boats to collect debris from the shorelines and shallows of Wawasee l.ake. They will assemble and leave from Smittys Boat Livery twice on Sunday, one group will leave at 9am and the second at 1 p m They have asked the public to' join in on the project. Should be interesting to note how many lake residents turn out for this conservation attempt. A wise woman can work as hard as a man and look as pretty as a girl Jerry Herbison. a no-holds-barred critic of various local town boards and other organized groups, last night criticized the Syracuse town board of wanting to "chrome plate” Boston street, and when he heard it would cost over >40.000 to update the street from Huntington street to the
Skinner Ditch bridge — what he called "nearly 40 per cent of the >186.000 (actually. 1186.M7 proposed) budget — he appeared outraged. He said the town board should leave Boston street "rough and bumpy." otherwise they would be making a race track out of it. He. was informed that a considerable amount of the >40.650 for the repair would come from state K (road) and S (street) funds, and if not used they would be lost. "I want to do something for the pedestrians." Herbison added. He asked the board to fix up the town's sidewalks instead of all this street repair, and was informed that this is actually a responsibility of the individual property owner. Herbison is not known for his long walks on the town's sidewalks, but his concern was considered laudable.
