It. 1962 Joellen McClintic, 13 year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McClintic of Milford, was top winner in the junior division of the state baton contest held last Saturday in Elkhart The Milford Case on Main street will close its doors at 7 p.m tomorrow. The case is owned by Ralph Groves, Jr., of Milford. The reason given for closing was lack of a cook. The present cook. A son, Larrie Adam, was born to the Rev. and Mrs. Adam Ingle Thursday, August 7, at the Elkhart General hospital. Larrie Adam is the Ingles’ fifth child. Firemen responded to an alarm at 10:45 this morning when the motor on the refrigeratored Dixie Dairy truck in the Baumgartner coal yard caught fire. Harold Kaiser threw a bucket of water on it scoring a “direct hit” and put the fire out. It was out when the firemen arrived. Rebecca Beer was elected president of the Sub-Debs at the meeting held Tuesday evening at the home of Patricia Kaiser. AUG. 15. 1940 One of the largest crowds ever to gather in Milford was here Sunday afternoon to witness Milford's first annual horse show An estimated audience of 2,800 people jammed the arena and bleachers at the West Side park to see an attractive array of horseflesh and some expert riding Jack Forbing is not going to worry about the shortage of white shirts. Beer entertained the married ladies and the girls of the Young People’s class of the Apostolic Christian church in Beer’s beautiful flower garden Thursday afternoon in honor of Miss Mildred Graff, bride-elect. 40 YEARS AGO. AUG. 13.1936 “Texaco” the little terrier at Texaco Station No. 2 went on a hunger strike the latter part of the week, after he discovered that his master had gone to the north woods for ten days. Mrs. Esther Bates, his “auntie” tried to get him to eat more of his favorite foods, but like all other homesick creatures, the appetite was gone. The marriage of Clifford F. Lingofelter. son of Melvin Lingofelter and Miss Verma Phillips, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phillips of Pierceton, was solemnized at 2 p.m. August 9, at the home of the bride’s grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Geo Solomon of Pierceton. The bride is a graduate of the Pierceton high school and the groom is employed by Theo Beer at his dairy farm They will be making their home with the groom’s father in East Milford. The farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Weybright was completely destroyed by fire, which broke out about 2:30 p.m. August 10. It was believed the fire started from an explosion of an di burner refrigerator which they had installed in the home some,time ago Mr. and Mrs. Weybright were attending the program at Camp Mack when they received word of the fire. A part of the contents were saved The home is located north of Syracuse Betwen 500 and 600 persons attended the concert given at Camp Mack Monday evening by the Dutibar entertainers The chapel m Becker Lodge was seated to full capacity and many more seated in the adjacent room and hallway. During the intermission it was announced that up to this time, 19 camp groups had been at Camp Mack this t

season, and that 5.340 campen had registered. There are four more groups yet to attend, which will mount the registration figures to a point which will look like a big year for Camp Mack.

Mo., where Mr. Wilson will attend a two-week school at the company’s Checkerboard Square facility. The Wilsons make their home in Nappanee. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cutter. Gordon McCormick and Bemiece Klink of Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Max Myers of Middlebury and Mr. and Mrs. Jack DeHaven of Fort Wayne are expected home week from San Francisco where they are attending the showing of the new 1977 Chevrolet line. Making the trip with them were two Fort Wayne couples associated with the DeHaven firm. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Sparklin, 100 W.E. Dale Ganz, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Ganz of 126 N. Shore Dr.. Syracuse, has entered Polk Community college in Winterhaven. Fla., as a freshman. Mrs. Danny Lantz from Mesa. Ariz., and Mrs. Orlo Rogers from Goshen were guests last Wednesday in the home of Hazel Kline of Milford. Mrs. Ray Bray of Milford entertained at a breakfast for her granddaughters Christi and Sherry Myers of Syracuse on Thursday. Aug. 12. The girls will be leaving for Ozark Bible college in Joplin. GRADUATES — PFC Paul Dye graduated from advanced training as a heavy construction equipment operator. He graduated at the top of his class as honor graduate and was promoted to the rank of PFC for his achievements. Paul will be on leave then go to Europe for assignment. PFC Dye graduated from Wawasee high school in 1975. Beer reunion to be held at Milford The Indiana Beer reunion will be held at the Milford elementary school on Saturday, Aug. 21, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. A carry-in dinner will be served at 12:30. The Willis Ehnle family from Japan will be guests of the day. Mrs Ehnle is the former Lois Beer, daughter of the Henry Beers of Milford.

SEWERS UNDER CONSTRUCTION — North Webster's first sewer system is under construction with pipe lines already laid in the southwest area of the community, top and bottom, with other lines to be installed.

North Webster sewers under construction

Work has begun on North Webster’s sewers, with workmen digging up streets and installing the pipe lines. Brown and Brown constructed the water treatment facility for the new lines. And Haskins, Incorporated. Lakeville, is the general contractor installing the lines. The southwest section of North Webster has had the pipe lines laid. West streets Effie. Himes, Huntington and part of Harrison have the lines already installed. Woritmen are now ready to pour concrete for the system’s areation tanks. Also under construction is a road to the treatment facility. The sewer system has been approved by the North Webster

town board and the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA is providing some funding for the system through a grant. Other funds for the project are a majority of federal money and some provided by state money and town bonds. The projected completion date for the sewers and water treatment facility is June 1977. INTEGRATION COMES The Supreme Court on Jan. 14, 1970, issued an order for the integration of all schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
