Medical Center in Warsaw after becoming ill at her home at 9:57 p.m on Wednesday, July 28. Leota- Summerlot, 66. r 2 Syracuse, was transported to the Kosciusko Community hospital at Warsaw at 2:18 a m. Thursday. July 29. Recently released from the hospital, she comtrained of suffering chest pains. Cindy Schacht 16. of Syracuse, was taken to the Goshen hospital after she suffered partial paralysis of her legs and numb-
ness in her arms from A skiing fall at 3:21 p.m. Friday, July 30, on Wawasee Lake. Randy Keene, 25, of North Webster was transported to the Goshen hospital at 7:05 am. Saturday. July 31. He fell off a ladder of a machine at Weatherhead Co onto metal boxes. He experienced numbness of both legs and pain in his back. John Melton of Marion was taken to the Goshen hospital Saturday, July 31, at 7:55 p.m. for a severe nosebleed that occurred while he was at Lake View camp site. Elsie M. Lee of r 2 Syracuse was transported to the Goshen hospital at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1. She had been released that noon from the hospital for heat condition and was suffering chest pains and had difficulty breathing.

W"W MSfi si - j|ar zs&gn g/~ —- • A BIT OF HISTORY— Youthful Warsaw artist Brad Butler is completing a large 15 by 40 mural on the side of the Walter Drug Co. building in Milford, depicting the classic fight between the VSS Bonhomme Richard and HMS Serapia, on September 23, 1779, in which the famous American Admiral supposedly said, “1 have not yet begun to fight.** Butler is doing the painting from a famed water color by Edward Tufnell. The painting on the drug store building has been a point of curiosity for motorists and pedestrians alike.

Kern. 19. of North Webster, was booked in the county jail this past week on charges of illegal consumption of alcoholic beverages and public
intoxication. Bond was set at S2OO in county court Two jailed for stealing hubcaps Booked at county jail Thursday. July 29. were Dennis D. Solomon, 18. of Syracuse, and a 17-year-old juvenile of Syracuse. The two were charged with the theft of the hubcaps from a car
owned by Glen Biller of Syracuse. Neighbors who witnessed the theft reported the description of the boys and the vehicle they were driving. County police took the youths into custody only minutes after the theft. Car-truck collision A car-truck collision at the intersection of CR 300E and 750 W resulted in a total of $1,300 damages. Involved in the Friday, July 30. accident were William B. Todd. 19. of Anderson driving the car and Thomas F. Spearman. 21. of Syracuse driving the truck The Todd car had S6OO damages and the Spearman truck S7OO Car catches on fire Fire trucks were dispatched Sunday, Aug. 1. at 5:34 p.m. to extinguish a car on fire at the fish hatcheries, the south side of Wawasee Lake. ' By the time the Syracuse trucks arrived the fire had been brought under control by the Cromwell fire department. Witnesses of the fire stated the muffler of the car fell off. The driver stopped to pick up the muffler, then drove off. Flames soon engulfed the rear end of the car. The owner of the vehicle was not identified $ 5,000 damages in house fire Fire caused an estimated $5,000 damage to a house just east of Schacht Rubber Co., south of Syracuse on SR 13. An employee of the rubber company called in a fire alarm at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, Syracuse firemen extinguished flames engulfing the ground-floor of a house rented by R. Zentz. owned by Laucks Xanders of Syracuse A small kitten was rescued from the fire. Renter Zentz was in lhe process of moving and most of the furniture had been removed from the house No one was present in the house at the time the fire started. Accident occurs in fair traffic Driver Joan Zeldenrust. 46. and passenger Denise Yoder, 15, both ai Goshen, suffered head contusions in an accident occurring Thursday, July 29, amongst the heavy fair traffic in Goshen. Keith Berkey. 17, of Syracuse hit the back end of the stopped car driven by the Zeldenrust woman. Her car was shoved, by the impact, into a truck in front of her operated by Gerald Weybright. 56, of New’ Paris Total damages estimated were $1,050.

LYNN KRULL of near Our Town won the best of show award with her ceramic plates depicting the four seasons in the open class of handicrafts at the Elkhart county fair last week. WE KNOW a woman who said she is wearing her hearing aid because she needs it. “not because it is a beautiful appendage.** RECENT VISITORS in Our Town from the Sunshine state of Florida included Mr. and Mrs. Karl Hoover and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Robert O’Blenis and daughters. They were visiting the Harold Geigers and Warren Evanses, parents of Mrs. (Evelyn) Hoover and Mrs. (Hilda) O'Blenis, as well as other relatives in the area. - Both couples are former Milford residents. ANOTHER COUNTY resident who won honors at the county fair in Goshen last week was Carla Curtis. Carla is 14 and placed second in the Young America on Review junior talent contest, singing the “Auctioneer Song.** Carla is the daughter of Carolyn Casto. She also sang in the gospel sing on Saturday night at the Elkhart county fair. MEMBERS OF the Christian church held a farewell Sundayevening after church for youth minister Dennis Gamauf and his family. Dennis will be entering Ozark Bible college in Joplin, Mo., later this month to continue his studies and will be serving as a youth minister for a church in Joplin. SPEAKING OF CHURCHES and ministers. Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Karstedt and daughter will be in Our Town next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Karstedts served the United Methodist church here for several years some time back. THE CHOIR of 20 sang out “Happy Birthday dear Amber" at the first birthday party of Amber Christine Brown, daughter of Sherry and Dan Brown of r 1 Milford, on August 1. They enjoyed a pot luck supper, homemade ice cream and chocolate cake. The guest of honor could not figure out what to do with the flame on her candle but did manage to get a few fingers in the frosting while looking at it. With her first piece of chocolate cake in hand, she seemed to like the butter frosting best. Guests Q included greatgrandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Brown, grandparents Mr. and Mrs Robert Brown and uncles Doug and Andy Brown, all of Milford; aunt Becky and uncle Steve Fox of Auburn; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Butler, aunts Debbie and Diane Dieterly and Barbie Jo Butler.

TOWNSMAN JOHN Gardner, East Catherine street, has shown a bit of patriotism by displaying an American flag on thg west side of his newly painted barn. The setting sun provides an appropriate spotlight on the flag against the white background. TRYING TO find out how much rain fell last Wednesday evening became an interesting project for M-J employees the latter part of last week. West of Milford at the Jesse Beer farm 34 inches were reported while Sarah Slabaugh, who lives along SR 15 in Milford, states 44 inches fell there. Jim Beer of r 1 Milford checked whitest was still raining and found five inches of rain. An additional half inch was found the next morning. Elmer had five inches at his property southeast of town while Robert Stichter reports five and nine-tenths at his farm north and west of Milford Most swimming pools in the area over flowed. An item elsewhere in the issue tells of the damage at the bank and Lavon’s and of the damage and slowdown of work at the construction site of the new overhead north of Milford. MRS. DICK Widup and grandson Scott Hartter have returned to Our Town after visiting Mrs. Widup’s son Jack who is stationed in the 50th state — Hawaii. MR. AND Mrs. Philip Beer and family of near Our Town have returned home from a western vacation whichrincluded visits to both Yellowstone and Glacier national parks. BACK IN 1958 when Fred Weisser and Pat Speicher graduated from high school neither had an idea that one day their sons would team up and throw a no-hitter. That did happen, however, when Greg Weisser and Pat Speicher shared mound duties last week in the Land of Lakes Youth League game against Mentone. The boys struck out 17 batters and won a 5-0 victory for the young Milford team. Former judge booked Arthur A. Osburn, 64, of North Webster, a retired Grant county judge, was booked Friday. July 30, for driving while under the influence of intoxicating beverages and public intoxication. Osbum was held on a S2OO bond to county court.
