GLEN H. LONGENECKER Funeral services Thursday for Glen Longenecker Funeral services will be held at 1.30 p m Thursday in the McHatton-Sadler funeral home, Warsaw, for Glen H. Longenecker, 71, r 7 Warsaw, a former Syracuse principal Death came unexpectedly at 10:56 pm. Monday in the Kosciusko Community hospital. Longenecker had taught at Syracuse. Atwood. Beaver Dam and-Warsaw, served as coach at Atwood and Leesburg; and was principal at Syracuse. Leesburg. Beaver Dam and the Warsaw Freshmen high schools. He rebred in 1969 He was born on July 2. 1904 at Smithville, Ohio, the son of John and Mary (Gerber) Longenecker He received his bachelor's degree fnJm Manchester college, his master s degree from Columbia university. He was a member of the first football team at Manchester college In 1929 he married Mary’ Sandy She preceded him in death in 1954 He married Virginia Riley in 1956 She survives He was a member of the First United Methodist church at Warsaw, the IHSAA board of control, a charter member of the Leesburg Lions and a member of the Warsaw IJons club. Keifer, 70, of Syracuse died in the Goshen hospital Wednesday. June 16. as the result of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound. Keifer. who was still conscious when the Syracuse ambulance arrived, said he was shooting muskrats with a 16 gage shotgun when he stumbled and fell on his gun. Mrs. Keifer found her husband lying face down in the yard a few yards from the house Corky Wong and Robert Penick of the Syracuse EMS unit transported Keifer by ambulance to the Goshen hospital where he died His survivors include his wife, Faye, two daughters, four brothers and two sisters. Services were held Saturday, June 19. at 1:30 pm in the Thoma-Rich funeral home in Bluffton Harkless Tackett Harkless Tackett. 43. Lucasville. Ohio, brother of Mrs. Monroe (Polly) Allen of Milford, died of complications on June 17 at his home. Tackett had been ill for 18 months The deceased was* born near Paintsville. Ky.. on April 1, 1933. the son of Andrew and Addie (Blanton) Tackett. He married the former Patsy Miller of Larwill on December 12. 1958 Surviving are the widow and six children. Lorraine. Fred. Cripe August 26. 1937 She moved from Syracuse to Bradenton. Fla., in 1965 Mrs Cripe was a registered nurse having graduated from the Laura Kindig school of nursing and belonged to the Nurses .Association of Florida and Indiana. She was bom February 12, 1896. at Milford to Richard and Elzina (Miller) Hall. On June 5, 1912, she was married to Henry L. Pletcher who preceded her in death on September 15, 1970. She was a member of the Nappanee Church of the Brethren Surviving are three daughters. Mrs. Ray (Minerva) Williams of Chicago. Mrs. Hall, formerly of Nappanee, died at 9 p.m. last Wednesday at Fountainview Place. Elkhart, where she had been a patient for the past five years. She was born on July 20,1892 in Kosciusko county. She married CloydS Hall on January 13,1916. He died on April 10, 1960. Surviving with the Milford sister are four sons. Harlan of Whitaker. Calif.. John of Canoga Park. Calif.. Sheldon and Virgil, both of Elkhart; three daughters. Mrs. John (Betty) Linn of Elkhart. Mrs. Henry (Mary Ellen) Hudson of Plymouth and Mrs. Isaac (Pauline) Krull of Nappanee; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Burial was in the Union Center cemetery Mrs. John D. Pfister Mrs John D. (Helen I.) Pfister, 74. of Elkhart died Tuesday, June 15. in the Elkhart hospital. She was born in Milford on April 26.1902. In Indianapolis she married John D. Pfister on April 16, 1929 He preceded her in death. Survivors include one son. David A Pfister. Elkhart; one daughter, Mrs Gilford (Judith) Cook, Elkhart; and five grandchildren Funeral services were conducted Friday. June 18. in the Grace Lutheran church in Elkhart Interment was in the Rice cemetery in Elkhart.
Samuel V. Larson Samuel V. Larson, 68, of Syracuse died this morning (Wednesday) at 5:30 a.m. in the Goshen hospital. He suffered a heart attack on June 17. Son of Carl and Lucretia (Traster) Larson, he was born February 24,1908. His wife Ardis preceded him in death in 1970. The only survivors are two sons, Eric of California and Keith of Millersburg. Friends may call at the Harris funeral home in Syracuse from noon Thursday till funeral service on Friday, June 23, at 1 p.m. Rev. Phillip Frew will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Syracuse cemetery. Georgia V. Roemer Georgia V. Roemer, 80, of Syracuse died Monday, June 21, at 11:20 a.m. in her home. She had been in failing health for several years. Bom in Marysville, Mont., on May 4, 1896, she moved to Syracuse in 1958 from Milwaukee. Wis. She was a waitress. She is survived by one daughter, Joanne Hill of Syracuse and , one adopted daughter, Jeanne Tolson of Haywood. Calif. Graveside services were held this morning (Wednesday) at 10 am. Father Ignat us Lempart officiated the service and Harris funeral home handled the funeral arrangements. Burial was in the Syracuse cemetery. Mrs, Harold Sothard Mrs. Marion L. Sothard. 59, of Syracuse died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 22. in the Marion hospital from complications. She had been ill for three months. The deceased was born in Dayton, Ohio, on July 8, 1916 to William and Marie (Troop) Reyh. She had been a summer resident of Syracuse for many years and became a permanent resident in 1959. She was first married to Clarence Wagner who preceded her in death in 1961. In 1967 she married Harold Sothard. Mrs. Sothard was a former variety store owner in Bellbrook, Ohio. More recently she was employed at the Leesburg Lumber Company in Leesburg. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Bellbrook. Ohio and the Order of the Eastern Star in Dayton. Ohio. Survivors include her husband. Harold, her mother, Marie Reyh of Columbia City; two sons. Frank Wagner of Xenia. Ohio and Jack Wagner of Fullerton, Calif.; one step daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Schrum of Alexandria; two step sons, Bob Sothard of Arlington Heights. 111., and Billy Sothard of Anderson; 21 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Mrs. Louise Bailey of Miamisburg. Ohio and one brother. Bill Reyh of Fort Wayne. Friends may call this evening (Wednesday) from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday. June 24 from 2-4 and 79 p.m. at the Harris-Troxel funeral home in North Webster. The body will be removed to the Schlientz and Moore funeral home in Dayton, Ohio, were there will be calling on Friday, June 23 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday. Richard tipped the scales at nine pounds. 14 ounces. Mr. and Mrs. Edsell Rice of Syracuse are the maternal and Mr. and Mrs. Richard James Mathew of Ligonier are the paternal grandparents. Stanley Lung of Ligonier is the only greatgrandparent. Richard has a sister Suzanne, five, at home. She suffered abrasions on left side of her face, both knees and arms, and head. Art Kiefer, 70, of Syracuse was transported by ambulance from his home to the Goshen hospital. He suffered accidental selfinflicted gunshot wounds to his abdomen. June 17 — Kenny Elson, 50, of Syracuse was transported by ambulance from Lakeland Standard Station to Goshen hospital. A tire blew up in his face, causing lacerations to wrist and lip and a nose bleed. Samuel Larson, 68, of Syracuse was transported by ambulance from doctor s office to Goshen hospital. He suffered chest pains and difficult breathing. June 18 — Jenny Somer, 70. of Syracuse was transported by ambulance from doctor’s office to Goshen hospital. Freshmen are enrolling at Goshen college Counselors will meet with prospective Goshen college freshmen in a special summer orientation and registration in the art gallery of the Good library at the college.
