Church of Brethren has anniversary party
An anniversary party was held June 13 in the fellowship room at North Webster Church of the Brethren Rev Paul Shneder gave the opening prayer He read from I Corinthians 13:44. A carry-in supper was served The program theme for the evening was: “Life, Love. Marriage. Home. Country. Church and Fun ” Annette Mock sang: “Oh Perfect Love." "Because." and “Oh Promise Me.” There was group singing of the song "Love Devine." Wedding vows were repeated by 12 couples Rev. Shrieder officiated A duet composed of Florence Shock and Joe Shock sang "The Savior Can Solve Every Problem ” D Mans Miller gave a reading entitled “Home” There was group singing of “My Country Tis Os Thee ” Sandy Adams read a history of the church A male quartet featuring Joe

Following the business session the ladies cleaned the church building. Miss Lisa Hasse was a guest. Lillian Barker hostess for the Tippy Twp. club Lillian Barker was hostess for the June 16 meeting erf Tippecanoe Township Home Extension club Kathleen Weghorst assisted the hostess Cultural arts were discussed by Goldie Hunnicutt. She told about Gene Stratton Porter and Indian Lore Mrs Weghorst told about attending school with Mr Porter’s nephew. Mrs. Porter would sometimes visit the class and tell the students nature stories Mrs Frank Kurth presented garden remarks. Her topic was "Roses " A group discussion of "Rose For Friendship” week followed. The citizenship lesson was given by Mrs Russell Mickley She discussed Independence Day Celebrations and the saving of the Liberty Bell during the American Revolution She also displayed old pictures of area events and businesses A carry-in dinner was served at noon During the afternoon business session the books were audited by Hazel Cleaver and Nema Collins. Plans were finalized for a theater party to be held in August. Opal Esch gave a report of the state conference at Purdue Mrs Ervin Scoville presented information on a group tour of Eli Lilly Co.. Indianapolis. Secret pal gifts and cards were distributed. Secret pal names were revealed and new names drawn The door prize was presented to Mildred Brady. Sadie Reynolds was elected to replace secretary-elect Margaret Welker, who is moving away. The group voted to hold the August meeting in a local restaurant. Installation of officers was held The new officers are. Mrs Kurth — president Mary Lou Cotton — vide president Mrs. Reynolds — secretary Catherine Bouse — treasurer Mrs Weghorst was the installing officer. A white elephant sale was held. Mrs Bouse served as auctioneer. Mrs Esch will be hostess for the July meeting. A carry-in salad bar will be served. Mrs Brady will assist the hostess.
FIRST PLACE - Kathy Koenigshof, 18 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Koenigshof. r 1 Pierceton, has won first place in the state “Talents For Christ” piano competition held recently at Kokomo. There were approximately 15 contestants participating in the event. Kathy is flying to Seattle. Wash., today (June 23) to compete at the national level during the 45th annual GARB conference of the General Association of Baptist churches. She will be performing at the Seattle Opera House and will be required to play a classical composition and a hymn arrangement. She will then be given a hymn and classical music to be played on sight. Kathy b a 1976 Wawasee high school graduate. She graduated with honors, received the Wawasee high scool music department piano award and was presented with the Hoosier Scholar award. This fall Kathy will be a freshman student at Grand Rapids Baptist college. Grand Rapids. Mich., where she will major in music. She is a member of Fellowship Baptist church. Warsaw, and plays the piano for the church choir. WCTU has patriotic meeting North Webster Anna Bowers Chapter of Women’s Christian Temperance Union met recently at North Webster Church of the Brethren' Devotions were given by Mary Wilcoxson Her topic was “Appreciation Os Our National Heritage.” She read from John 23:10; James 1:5; and I Kings 3:5-14. Betty Barrett discussed the Indiana state flag. She read some of its history, gave a lesson on flag waving and etiquette and showed pictures depicting different ways to properly display the flag. Oma Likens was named as Christian Outreach devotional leader. The closing prayer was given by Mrs, Barrett and Mrs. Wilcoxson

Women's Fellowship has annual picnic, election
Sharon Richcreek was hostess for the annual picnic of the Women’s Fellowship from North Webster Church of the Brethren held recently. Election of officers was held. Mrs. Lock was reelected president. Sandy Adams was elected as secretary-treasurer and vice president. Dorothy Richcreek. Virginia Penn and Jane Cassell were named as proaid directors Members of the emergency committee are Betty Lou Shock.

Efficient Homemakers Heme Extension club members met June 17 in the home of Hannah Payne. Linda Stookey assisted the hostess The meeting opened with a demonstration of the facilities and equipment of the North Webster Mobil Emergency unit. Dan Conkling. A report of the recent county sponsored trip to Chicago was given by Karleen Richards and Mrs Marvin. An auction of favorite recipes was held. Irene Reagan served as auctioneer. The July meeting will be held in the home of Mrs Richards. Strawd Marvin is honored at birthday party Strawd Marvin, Barbee Lake, was guest of honor at a surprise birthday party held recently at his home. Hobart. ~ Lagro. North Webster and Barbee. Country’ and western music was provided by “Jay and the Ramrods.” A carry-in dinner was served picnic style. The food table was decorated in keeping with a Bicentennial theme. The guest of honor was presented with gifts and a photo album signed by everyone present. Pictures of those attending and the days activities were taken. The photos will be placed in the album. Two birthday cakes were served One cake, baked by Mrs. Louise Tyler. Jr., was decorated with a camping scene. The other cake was a gift from Mr. Marvin’s fellow employees. It featured a large crown, red and white icing and a “King For A Day " theme. COMMUNITY NEWS The Come-Join-Us Sunday school class from North Webster United Methodist church is planning a “Strawberry Festival” to be held June 29. North Webster United Methodist church adult Bible class will meet at 1:30 p m.. June 29 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Churchill. A retreat scheduled for the week end of July 16.17 and 18, is being planned by Senior High Youth from North Webster Church of God. Junior high youth from North Webster Church of God are going

The Children’s Group from North Webster Church of God built a float for the Mermaid Festival “Kiddie Parade.” Young people from North Webster Church of God are planning to attend the International Youth Convention to be held August 5-8 at Cincinnati, Ohio. Rev. Paul Evans, North Webster Church of God, was in Anderson on Wednesday and Thursday of last week attending a camp meeting. —NWSemi and car collide in intersection A semi, driven by William L. Gross, 49, of Leesburg collided with a car driven by Walter Harris. 69. of Muncie as they were both driving west on East Market St.. Warsaw, on Wednesday, June 16. The mishap occurred when Gross attempted to turn right onto Detroit St. Not seeing the car to his right he had veered out into the left lane to make the turn Harris thinking the semi had stalled turned right and his car was hit by the semi. Damages to the car were $420. No apparent damage was done to the semi.
