14 YEARS AGO. JUNE 28.1962 The work day of the Milford Boy Scouts at their cabin at Waubee Lake was a big success according to Dean Troup. A lot of work was done and considerable improvement was made on the cabin Beer and Slabaugh hauled in six loads of fill dirt and spread it for the boys. Bob Emmons, Dewey Fox and Claude Hamilton worked on the roof, repairing and painting it. John Haughey and Mr Troup worked on the grounds and Mrs Emmons cleaned the kitchen The scouts helped where needed J*. R Michael of r 1 Milford was seriously injured last Friday afternoon when he cranked a tractor that he thought was in neutral and it ran over him The accident happened on his farm west of town Mr. and, Mr John P Strouse of Dewart Lake are the parents of a daughter, their first child, born at6llpm on Friday. June 22. in Elkhart Central hospital. Debra Jean weighed in at seven pounds, six ounces and measured 19 inches long Maternal grandparents are Mr and Mr Adam Bowling and paternal grandparents are Mr and Mrs. Harry Strouse, all of Scottsburg Mr Strouse, who is a teacher in the Milford schools, states that both his wife and little girl are fine. They were released from the hospital Wednesday.

24 YEARS AGO. JUNE 26. 1952 Jerry Bray. 10 year old son of Mr and Mrs Ray Bray, had two bones broken in his right arm last Saturday while he was on a tractor at the Clifford Fleischauer farm. He did not fall, but his hand caught in some part of the machinery. Mr and Mrs. Ralph Berkeypile and Mr and Mrs. Walter Ritter had dinner Saturday evening at Louie s Grill. Lake Wawasee, and spent the remainder of the evening at Warsaw. Mr. and Mrs Berkeypile were observing their 18th wedding anniversary They are Mr. and Mrs. Wade Mishler had dinner Sunday evening at Billy Roy s at Edwardsburg. Mich. Deaths: Albert (“Abe”) E Andrews. 69. of Dewart Lake died June 24; and Jesse McKinney . 61. of Milford died June 20 Carolyn Augsburger. daughter of Mr and Mrs. John F Augsburger, and Clarann Hart ter daughter of Mr and Mrs Elmer Hartter, narrowly escaped injury at 1:30 Friday, when the car Carolyn was driving overturned on a county road southeast of Milford. Mr and Mrs Don Wolferman were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs Bill Tom at Elkhart. N YEARS AGO. JUNE 27.1946 A reunion of the Miller family was held all day Sunday at the Dewart Lake cottage of Mr and Mrs Ray Miller. Fifty-two relatives gathered to enjoy a day of get-together Relatives came from Argos. North Webster. Pieceton. Goshen. Nappanee, New Pans, Oswego. Milford and Seattle. Washington. A carry-in dinner was enjoyed by everyone present John Gunther. San Francisco attorney, arrived in Milford Tuesday evening to spend several days with his mother, Mrs Ada Gunther. He will go to northern Michigan for a few day’s fishing while he is ‘ home " John taught school at the old Crowl school house and taught the sixth grade one year at the Vanßuren township school. The Merry Maidens 4-H club held their regular meeting last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mary Lou Good. Fifteen members and three guests were present. Demonstrations were given by Nancy Jo Carpenter. Mary Alice Wise, and Naomi Holloway. Plans were made for a picnic and swimming party. Conyers, Girl Scout leader, took the Girl Scouts to Oakwood Park Thursday evening where a swimming party was enjoyed. Spirit of Tomorrow club goes swimming By JACKIE HEMMINGER The Spirit of Tomorrow 4-H ? club of Syracuse met Thursday, June 10, at Oakwood Park. Swimming was enjoyed after the meeting. The meeting was opened by president Linda James. The American pledge was led by Jeff Hemmmger and the 4-H pledge by Tomi Morehouse Members talked about the fair and discussed a Bicentennial project. Refreshments were served to the 11 members present by Kelly McDaniel and Holly Hemmingen .All fair projects are to be taken to the July 15 meeting. Pre-fair judging will take place. The meeting place will be announced later. Anyone with with questions should contact Joyce Morehouse. Drivers ticketed after auto mishap A Ford pick-up trqck driven by Nancy J. Brunilson, 28, of Syracuse, was sideswiped by a car driven by Leota Yoder. 54, of Goshen as she failed to yield the right-of-way. The incident occurred at the corner of South Main street and Kercher road in Goshen. Friday, June 18. Both drivers were ticketed. Brunilson for driving without an operator’s permit and Yoder for failing to yield the right-of-way. Estimated damage to the car was 8250 and 8250 to the truck. ANN WOLF VISITS PARENTS Mr. and Mrs. James Wolf of Atwood entertained last week for their daughter Ann of Atlanta. Ga Guests for supper on June 14 were Mr and Mrs. Herman Miller of Milford; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wolf and family. Pam Wolf Klinger, all of the Atwood vicinity.
Kinder is building a new plant in Warsaw
Kinder, a division of Congoleum Corporation will build a 50.000 square foot plant in the Boggs Industrial park in Warsaw. The announcement was made by Paul H. Moore, vice president and general manager of the division. Kinder's present facility in Warsaw has been sold to Endicott Industries, Inc. Kinder has been in this location since 1970. It has just been announced by Congoleum Corporation that Kinder is to remain as their only upholstered division in the corporation as plans are made to divest all other divisions. Only the resilient flooring division. The Bath Iron Works, the shipbuilding division and Kinder will make up the corporation. These three in 1975 contributed 67 per cent of the sales and 139 per cent of the earnings. Kinder is a manufacturer of mobile home furniture and bedding with 14 manufacturing facilities covering the nation. The company also successfully introduced Day Dreamer, a line of

TOPS inspiration night at Mentone Five members of IN 106 Syracuse TOPS attended the inspiration night meeting at Mentone on Tuesday. June 8. An open discussion on how each club handles their meetings was discussed Janet Coy was the best loser from the Syracuse group. Her prize was a beautiful pot of fresh flowers. VISIT RELATIVES IN MILFORD AREA Jill Ulery of Walnut. Calif., is spending two weeks visiting her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Don Ahms Erik Treesh of Houston. Texas, is also spending two weeks with his grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Treesh and Mr. and Mrs. Don Ahms The children flew into O'Hare Field in Chicago on June 13 and were picked up by the Treeshes and Ahms
