Rev. K. E. Robinson worship coordinator for summer series
Rev. Kennard E. Robinson has been appointed worship coordinator for the summer worship series at Oakwood Park, Syracuse. Rev. Robinson was the former pastor of Calvary United Methodist church in Syracuse and is currently the executive director of the Uniting Religious Community of Elkhart county. The Robinsons are residents of Syracuse, living in Oakwood Park. The worship services are tailored in an informal style, particularly suited for the summer season. Services begin on June 20 at 10 a m in the beautiful Oakwood Center auditorium at Oakwood Park. Special music is provided each Sunday. Federal Crop Insurance deadline set ► Area farmers who are policy holders of Federal Crop Insurance are reminded that the final date for reporting their acres erf crops for insurance purposes is June 30. Any crops that are reported after this date and suffered previous damage could result in no insurance coverage, explains Ben A. Jordan, Jr., director of the contract service center. OMHram ■MKmb. NEW METHODIST PASTOR — Rev, Phillip D. Frew is the new pastor of the Saint Andrew’s United Methodist church. Syracuse, replacing Rev. Marvin Jones who moved to an Attica charge following five years at Syracuse. Rev. Frew comes from Hammond where he has been associate pastor at the First United Methodist church for the past three years. He also worked as counselor at the Calumet Christian Counseling Center,
trained in transactional analysis, “I’m OK, You’re OK.” He has also served pastorates at Rockville and Indianapolis, having graduated from DePauw university. Greencastle, and the Drew university school of theology, Madison, NJ. Rev. Frew and his wife Gloria have three children: David, 18: Diane, 14; and Donald. 12. Revival meeting at Milford Chapel Jerry Zehr, general superintendent of the Milford Chapel on South Main street. Milford, has announced a revival meeting for the church on Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20. The speaker will be Earl Koch of New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada. Special music will be presented at each service. The Saturday evening meeting is at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday there will be an 11 o’clock morning service and an evening service at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome at attend.
Kanat Manayunk addition residents plan for a picnic Picnic plans for July 11 for all the residents of Kanata Manayunk addition on Wawasee Lake were made at the June 13 meeting in the home of John Mueller. Reports concerning the residents of Kanata Manayunk addition were given during the meeting. President Mrs. Doris Bennet reported on the road situation; Charles Purdum stated road signs had been ordered for the addition; and Mrs. Jerry Ganshom reported on the mosquito control. Phil Singer presented plans for two homes to be built in the addition by Phletcher and Harkleroad. The group approved the plans to build. Mrs. Phil Singer asked for donations to help purchase fire equipment and an ambulance for the Syracuse volunteer fire department.
Firemen called to Allen Coy home Milford firemen were called to the Allan Coy hone on South Main street, Milford, at 6 p.m. Tuesday when lightning struck an air conditioner. No damage was reported, other than what was done to the air conditioner. Milford police lists total calls for May The monthly report from the Milford police department for May lists a total of 45 calls. Broken down the calls were 13 warnings, two accidents, 14 complaints, seven dogs calls, four burglar alarms, three arrests and two funerals. The department also made 106 phone calls and showed 1729 miles for the month. Town Marshall Melvin Jordan traveled 1435 miles and deputy Wood a distance of 294 miles. A total cost for the 228 gallons of gasoline used was $136.60. And maintenance on the police crusier was listed as $60.88.
