. Lois Anderson Funeral services *ere held recently in Olney, 111., for Lois G. Anderson, 83, 910 E. Laurel, Olney, who died May 21 in the Richland Memorial hospital. Mrs. Anderson, a former resident of Milford, was born on August 21. 1892 in Red Key to Fred and Laura (Whitsei) Ackels. She married Frank E. Anderson at Tipton on May 17, 1914. She was a member of the First United Methodist church, Clio club of Olney, Columbia club of Indianapolis, Richland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star 100, White Shrine of Jerusalem iind for many years she was associated with the Illinois Elks Crippled Children Association. She is survived by her husband; a daughter-in-law, Thelma Anderson of Olney; two grandchildren; and one halfsister Her parents; one son, F. Ross Anderson; and one brother, Frank, preceded her in death. Charlotte Hawkins Charlotte Hawkins. 77, of 005 S. Cowen, Garrett, former Leesburg resident, died Friday, June 4, at 12:40 am. in the Garrett Community hospital. She had been in failing health for two years and died from complications. The deceased was born to John and Annaretta (Angel) Turnbleson in Leesburg on July 7, 1898 She moved to Garrett in 1950 and was united in marriage to Harvey J. Hawkins on January 23. 1951, in Auburn He survives Mrs Hawkins was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Garrett United Methodist church Survivors include her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Herman W. Jensen of Garrett; one son, John Holloway of Fort Wayito. nine grandchildren, and 14 greatgrandchildren Funeral services were conducted by Rev Ronald Bowman from the Garrett United Methodist church in the MeKee funeral home Monday, June 7. Burial was in the Syracuse cemetery. r Rue H. Hunnicutt Funeral services were held Tuesday for Rue Henry Hunnicutt, 82, r 1 North Webster and formerly of the Syracuse community. Santee. Calif.; 25 grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Clyde of Lawrenceville, 111. A son preceded him in death. Interment was in North Webster cemetery. Mrs. Fred Menzie Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Frances G. Menzie, 81, of r 1 North Webster. Death came at 11:45 a m. on Thursday at the Alfran nursing home, Warsaw, and was due to complications following an extended illness Bom at Wilmot on August 11, 1894, she was a daughter of Meade and Clementine (Garber) Humble and resided at Fort Wayne prior to moving to North Webster 10 years ago She was married August 28, 1918 to Fred Menzie, and he survives A housewife, she was a member of the North Webster Church of God In addition to the busband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs John (Mary) Smith of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Darrell (Georgia) Dunham of Denton, Texas; a son. Gene. Fort Wayne, seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mildred Eberly of Nappanee, Evelyn Johansen and Winifred Close, both of North Webster Interment was in Washington Union cemetery at Pierceton Doyle Harp . Doyle E. Harp, 73, Kendallville. was dead on arrival at McCray hospital Thursday. May 27. He is survived by his wife, Alma Other survivors include two daughters. Mrs Harriett Sue Diehm, Tucson. Ariz and Glora Ortner, Sturgis, Mich; two sons, James T.. Fort Wayne and John A., Valdez, Alaska; two sisters. Mrs. Florence Brandeberry, Kendallville and Mrs. Al (Jeanette) Souder, Auburn; one brother. Robert Harp, Peoria. 11l ; 10 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Heather Martin Graveside services were held in North Webster cemetery, Mock addition, Saturday morning for infant Heather Kay Martin, daughter of Robert and Billie Jo (Stidamsi) Martin of North Webster. Death came at 10:20 a.m. Thursday at Goshen hospital where she was bom at 7:10 a.m. In addition to the parents, survivors include the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Stidams of North Webster; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Wilbur of Clayton, Calif.; and a number of aunts and uncles. Rudolph H. Long Rudolph H. (Rudy) Long, 59, 12458 CRI4B r 2 Syracuse, passed away of a heart attack at 5:10 pm June 3 in the Goshen hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on May 16 Bom at Millersburg on April 23. 1917, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. His parents were Homer and Ruth (Bollinger) Long. His marriage to the former Pauline Hartsough took place January 17, 1948 and she survives. A meat cutter for A and P and Kroger stores for many years, he was employed for 18 years with State Farm insurance. Mr. Long was a member of the American Legion post at Millersburg. VFW of Goshen and served with the United States Navy during World War 11, Pacific Theatre In addition to the widow, he is survived by one daughter. Mrs. Ronald L (Phyllis Jeanne) Roberts of Syracuse; three grandsons; a sister, Mrs. Madonna Ax of Syracuse; and two brothers, Frank and Douglas Long, both of Millersburg. Funeral, services were held on Sunday at Saint Peter’s Lutheran church in Millersburg where he was a lifetime member Interment was in Brown cemetery. Charles IF. Brown Services were held Tuesday for Charles F Brown, 72. of Anderson and formerly of Syracuse. Death came at Anderson Community hospital on Sunday. Mr. Brown was retired from The Weatherhead Company. Survivors include the wife. Anna; one daughter, Mrs. Chester Smith of Anderson; and a sister, Mrs. Thelma Smith, Anderson ! George Gloss George Glass, 63, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Monday. May 31, in the home of his daughter Mrs. Clyde (Judy) Duell of an apparent heart attack. Born in Canton, Ohio, he resided in the Syracuse area for several vears before moving to Calif. His survivors are three daughters. Judy, Mrs. Randy (Lou Ann Schrader of Denver, Colo., and Mis. Gerald (Karen) Cooper of South Bend; one son Steven of Denver; several grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters in the Ohio area. The deceased’s body was cremated in Las Vegas. His ashes were returned to Leesburg for graveside services Friday, June 4, and burial in the Leesburg cemetery Nixon H. Weaver Nixon Weaver, 64, of Warsaw, died Tuesday. June 8, in the Murphy Medical center. Weaver was born in Leesburg June 9. 1912 to John and Edna (Nixon) Weaver. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko county. Survivors include his wife Bernice; one son, Tim A. Weaver of Findlay, O.; and two grandchildren Services will be conducted at 1:30 p m Thursday, June 10 in the McHatton-Sadler funeral home Rev. Texas, died unexpectedly at Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, and funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Harris funeral home in Syracuse Brenda was the daughter of Robert and! Avilla Centennial celebration to be held at school grounds
The Avilla Centennial celebration at the Avilla school ground has been set for this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. A youth parade will start events at 6 p.m. on Thursday with eight categories, two awards each. There will be games for the children, ages eight to 15, at the playground, at 6:30, and a rock dance at 8 p.m. at the park. A tractor pull will start at 6 p.m. Friday on the lower diamond at the school, followed by a bed race on West Albion street at 6:30 and a polka fest at the park at 8 o’clock. Events on Saturday will start with a pancake breakfast at the park at 6:30 am., a garden tractor pull on West Albion street at 9, with meals by the local churches in the school cafeteria from 11-7. Big Parade South Main street will be the site for the 1 p.m. parade with nine categories, two awards in each. A tractor pull will be held

Two speakers and radio are stolen A radio and two speakers were stolen from a vehicle owned by Charles Yeager of Leesburg. The theft occurred during the night while the car was parked at his residence. Small hand tools were used to remove the radio from the car.
