Warriorettes have high hopes for state victory

By ESTI KEEN After winning the regional at Goshen the Warriorette track team is still in the running and has high hopes for, the coming state competition at North Central high school June 4 Their impressive regional per formance advanced individuals in three events and one relay to the state finals at Indianapolis. The Warriorettes, who placed fifth in the state event last season, totalled 34 points to Fort Wayne Northrop’s 30 in leading the 57 team field Snider was third with 28. followed by Marion's 26. Wawasee golf club scramble results Results of the Wawasee Golf club scramble on Saturday were: First, 32. Merrill Postma, New Paris, Glenn King. Goshen, Bob Tenney, Warsaw, Evelyn Kilmer, Goshen, and Pat Zwickl, Milford; and second, 34, Elmer Largen, Ligonier, Don Walburn, Leesburg, Mike Zwickl, Milford, Bernie Miller, Goshen, and Jane Tenney, Warsaw. In the Stag and Doe event on Monday, Orville Vanderßeyden, Syracuse, Doris Scheidel, Goshen, Ady Howell, North Webster and Pat Zwickl, Milford, took first. Second in the Monday event went to Mike Zwickl of Milford and Hazel Swihart, Bud Wortinger and Pam Scheidel, all of Goshen. HAS HOLE-IN-ONE AT MAXWELTON CLUB Ron Hulsey of Goshen had a hole-in-one, his first, on Saturday at Maxwelton Golf chib, Syracuse. He used his pitching wedge on hole number 13, a 135-yard hole, for his feat. Witnesses were Bob Hurst and Jame Lyke, both of Goshen. Club pro Bob Carlson said this is the second hole-in-one at Maxwelton this year.

Coach Heady then signaled for the suicide squeeze. Bryan Smith hit and made it to first while Pollock skipped over the home plate for the only run of the afternoon.

Flour bombing will be between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. with the Indiana air national guard jet squadron fly-by at 2:45. A balloon breaking contest will be held between 3:15 aftti 4:15 p.m. Other events on the schedule for the day are a static display, a new aircraft show, experimental aircraft, antique aircraft, war birds, a ping pong ball drop and a radio controlled airplane show. The rain date has been set for June 20. The public is urged to attend this air show — planned to be the finest ever in the area. Airplane rides will be available as well as glider rides and entertainment is scheduled throughout the day.
