high school in 1955. He and his wife spent three months last year in Nigeria on a special scholarship assignment. Mr. and Mrs. John Mullinix of Milford had as Monday overnight guests, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hesse of Fort Wayne. Glenn Price, Jr., Ron Baumgartner and Freddie Haab attended the 500 Mile Speedway races at Indianapolis on Memorial Day. Also attending the races from Milford were Dick Sharp, Joseph Jessop, Phil Weisser and Mike Treesh. 24 YEARS AGO, MAY 29.1952 A post-graduation dinner for twenty-three members of the senior class was given by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kizer, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wuthrich, and Mr. and Mrs. John Augsburger at the Melody case Monday evening. Chickens for the dinner were donated by Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Gerber. Three of the class were unable to be present. The new fryer holds 30 pounds of shortening and is the very latest in French frying. E. C. West, of Goshen, purchased the Roy Treesh cottage at Waubee Lake recently. Mr. West is the father-in-law of Jacque Wemple. He plans to make the cottage his permanent home. In a transaction closed Saturday afternoon between Wade E. Mishler and Charles R. Brittsan, both well known Milford citizens. Mr. Mishler purchased from Mr. Brittsan the C. R. Brittsan Funeral Service. Mr. Mishler purchased all of the Brettsan funeral equipment, including his ambulance. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Knepper and children. Beverly, Joy Mae and Sandra, left Milford Saturday morning for Hastings, Minnesota, where they are spending a week s vacation with Mrs. Knepper s mother. Mrs. Emma Drake, and daughter Ruth, They will return home on Sunday. Roman Slabaugh. manager of the Milford Grain and Milling Co., said this week that the mill took in 10,704 bushels of com and 6,385 bushels of wheat in the recent call for grain by our government to help feed the destitute and starving peoples of Europe. 40 YEARS AGO, MAY 28. 1936 The Baumgartner Case was redecorated last week. Mrs. Gladys Brown was hostess Friday evening to 11 of the Merry Jane Club members and four guests. Mesdames Harry Phend, Delbert Hastings. Leonard Rex and Inez Anglin. A social hour and refreshments were enjoyed. The marriage of Miss Emma Anna Martin, daughter of Mrs. Henry Martin of Milford, and Oliver Haab son of Mrs. Theodore Haab of New Paris, was solemnized at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 24, at the Apostolic church in the presence of a large assemblage of relatives and friends. Rev. Eli Dotterer of Paulding, 0., performed the impressive ceremony. The bride was charmingly dressed in sheer navy blue silk crepe with accessories to match and the groom’s attire was also navy blue. A large tank at the Wolferman Co. grounds west of Milford, exploded Sunday afternoon causing damage to some of the property. Mr. Wolferman, who was climbing to the top of the tank when the explosion occurred, miraculously escaped injury.
