High school building trades class will hold open house
The building trades class at Wawasee high school is planning to hold an open house this Saturday. May 22. from 1-5 o’clock in the afternoon. The class, under direction of Rudy Cesco. has extended an invitation to the public to attend the event The house built this year is located on the Kern road behind the high school and was built to sell in the $32,000 range Mr. and Mrs: Jack Spitler of Syracuse have purchased the house and the relatively new spray on instant grass work was completed Monday With proper temperatures, the new lawn could be readv to mow bv June 14. Members of the building trades class who constructed the house are Steve Richmond. Mike Webb; Jim Clayton. Gary Vanator. Harley Hursey. Wes Bell. Gary Connolly, Lemberg. Doug Plummer. West Noble and Fairfield high schools Youth center to conduct day camps The Lakeland Youth Center in Syracuse will conduct three gymnastic day camps this summer, according to youth center director Dan Caskey. The first session will start June 14. second on June 28 and the final session on July 12. Dailysessions will be from 9-11 for beginners up to 10 years, of age, with 10 years and up from 11-1. Campers will receive instructions with class size being limited to 10 students and a charge is being made for the two week sessions. Kim Webster, a junior at Eastern Illinois university and a member of the gymnastic team at Eastern for two years, will be director of the camp Gymnasts are asked to sign at the center by May 30 Classes will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.

The plav is sponsored by the Milford PTO and is being directed by Donna Pollen and Betty Lambert. Lura Hoover is accompanist and Dick Fehnel is in charge of lighting and sound. Christian Troyer and Kay Sprague are in charge of the art work. Lana Beer is Cinderella and Raymond Pena is the prince charming. Area residents are invited to attend with those who can being urged to attend the afternoon presentation because of the large crowd expected for the evening show.

Lakeland parents favor spring-fall conferences
Results of a survey conducted during April in the Lakeland school corporation on the question of whether the elementary schools have parentteacher conferences, show an overwhelming 83 per cent in favor of the conferences, both spring and fall. When parents marked their questionnaire for all conferences only, not needed or other, many included the remark that conferences should be called when there is a problem since there is a definite need to demonstrate that it is important for parents and Linda Bitner graduates from Purdue Miss Linda Bitner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bitner of Syracuse, graduated Sunday from Purdue university with a BS in child development and familyliving She was also on the dean's list for the final semester. This was the 124th consecutive graduation at the university, and the largest ever. Miss Bitner will be teaching kindergarten readiness in Lafayette this summer. She is a 1972 graduate of Wawasee high school.
