Guest speakers at New Salem Guest speakers for the missionary conference were Rev. Constantine Lewshenia and Michael Kuvshinikov representing the Slavic Gospel Association. Inc., of Wheaton, Ill.; Olin Kinney, representing the World Vision International. They gave reports of their ministeries. Special music for the conference was given by various groups from Grace college. Women's Fellowship has dinner Wednesday The Women’s Fellowship met Wednesday noon in a local restaurant for dinner then returned to the home of Mrs. Dale Mock Mrs. Elsie Weybright gave the devotions reading Luke 10:38-42, John 4:6 and John 19:27. She also read "Christ and Mother" and a poem "Thank you! God” and led in prayer.
The business meeting was conducted by Mrs. Ray Ferverda. Rev. and Mrs Howard Kreider attended the dedication services Sunday for the newly built Blue River Church of the Brethren near Columbia City. Rev. Kreider was on the program for the service. Ceremony A most impressive mother's day ceremony was given recognizing all mothers, including past matrons, officers and members. Mrs. Joe Bushong was specially honored as the fraternal mother of the worthy matron. A memorial service was held for Mrs. Orville Vanderßeyden and the charter draped, followed by a memorial service “Broken Links” for all deceased members. Plans were prefected for honor night on June 2 and the chapter will entertain complimentary to Mrs. Lisor Members adjourned to the dining room for a Social hour with Mrs. Jack Stoelting and Mrs. Marceil Grove as hostesses. Public hearing set for May 25 on poor relief
The Regional Task Force for Elkhart, Kosciusko and LaGrange counties of the Citizens’ Study Commission on Poor Relief will hold a public hearing, Tuesday. May 25,7 to 10 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist church. East Jackson Blvd., Elkhart. The Regional Task Force will invite testimony from the public regarding the township trustee system of poor relief. The township trustees have been the subject of a study, conducted in 15 regions of Indiana. sponsored by over 20 state organizations. The public hearing is being conducted so that a variety of direct testimony can be added as a supplement to the information already gathered by the task force.
