Girls track sectional set to open on May 18

Rick McKibben led the way firing a 39. Wawasee girls stop Plymouth By ESTI KEEN The Wawasee girls tennis team traveled to Plymouth 3-4 for a 4-3 victory adding a little weight to the wanning column. Coach Jack Marlette’s Warriors took all their winning points in singles competition and losing to both Plymouth doubles pairs No. four singles player Teresa Carpenter was the only Warrior to win in straight sets, managing a 6-2. 6-4 victory over Kelly Leachman Susan Krug. Dawn Price and Pat McQuillian had a tougher time of it, each being forced to battle three sets but didn't fail to win the final set. The netters will host Warsaw fcr a 4 p m. meet this Thursday.

The Wawasee high school music department will present a Pops concert in the high school gymnasium this Friday night. May 14. at 7:30 o’clock. Kick off scramble at Wawasee A kick off scramble was held last Saturday at the Wawasee golf club with three teams tying fcr first place with 68. Those teams are as follows: Team one — Joe Hartsough, Carl Borders. Ken Culp and Evelyn Kilmer Team two — Mike Summay, Bill Miller. Ed Green and Jane Tenney Team three — Joe Schiedel, Glenn King. Mose Troyer and Wanetta Jones No play off was held due to time and the weather. The weekly Saturday scrambles will be held starting on May 15 at 4 pm A men’s scramble for members and guests will be held on May 30 with 18 hole play beginning at 1 pm An 18 hole stag and doe play will begin at 1 p.m. on May 31. Graduates from IU makes dean's list Miss Marsha Strickler graduated Sunday from Indiana university with a bachelor’s degree in education. A few of the numbers to be given will be Rossini’s “William Tell Overture” by the concert band; a medley of standard popular songs by the orchestra , Haydn’s “The Heavens are Telling” by the concert choir; as well as selections from “Godspell.” The jazz band will be playing a Woody Herman number called “Corazon.” Special Recognition The seniors will receive special recognition and auric awards will be presented at the conclusion of the program. The concert will conclude with the choirs singing the school anthem with the band accompanying. Directors of the program are David S. Blackwell, bands; Sam Martin, orchestra; and Mrs. Ralph Bushong, choirs.

Manchester graduation May 23
Professor Hans J. Morgenthau. distinguished political scientist and author of “A New Foreign Policy for the United States.” will give the 1976 commencement address at Manchester college on Sunday, May 23. During the commencement exercises. 282 seniors will receive the bachelor of science or arts degree, 19 students will be awarded the two year associate arts degree, with 13 graduate students receiving the master of arts degree. Dr. A. Blair Helman, president of Manchester college, will address the 1976 class in bacWawasee student named alternate Larry D. Allen, a senior at Wawasee high school, has been named §by the National Association of secondary school principal scholarship board as an alternate in the National Honor Society scholarship competition.
