ml ROBERT HEADY Robert Heady resigns as WHS coach Wawasee high school varsity basketball and baseball coach Robert Heady has resigned to accept a coaching position at the Shenandoah high school in the Northwest School Corporation at Middletown. Heady has been at Wawasee for three years. He will continue with the baseball program through the summer.

Applications Superintendent Don Arnold will be receiving applications from Lakeland staff members and from interested applicants outside the corporation for a two week period Applications will not be accepted after May 28 so the school board can select a new coach in the near future.

Heady came to Wawasee after coaching at Griffith high school for four years. He was chosen ox er 80 applications with over 100 contacts being made at that time. He began his coaching career at Frankfort as assistant under Phil Buck. After two years at Frankfort, he accepted the assistant varsity position at Warren Central under Carl McNulty and remained for three years Heady then accepted the varsity basketball and baseball position at Griffith high school. Heady is a graduate of Frankton high school and received his BS and MA degrees from Ball State university in the areas of physical education, health and earth science. Warrior track team proves it is number one

By ESTI KEEN The Wawasee track team proved what the Rochester relays had suggested, as they defeated the defending conference champion North Wood along with Concord — they are the top team in the conference. The Warriors finished with 67. to scrape North Wood with 63. Concord was way back with 30 Sophomore Kevin Gilbert won the mile in 4:37.6 to demolish the Warrior school record of 4:40 Rhodes won the discus with a 162 foot 3 inch heave and the shot put at 55 foot 3 inches while Spearman did his thing at the hurdle events in 15.3 (highs) and 20.7 (lows). Wawasee's only other individual blue ribbon came from Steve Cromer clocking :23.2 in the 220 yard dash. Concord Relays Win Wawasee walked away from the Concord relays smiling Friday as they earned top honors with 78. Close behind was Goshen with 72 followed by North Wood with 71, Concord with 63.
