M The Column A Sideshow Os BB Events In Milford
THIS PHOTO was taken last Friday at the Milford elementary school's pioneer day event. The event was well attended by manyarea residents. The cute little Miss in the photo is Kandi Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Wilson of near Our Town. Kandi's dress was once worn by her great-grandmother Mrs. Roy Cannon of Sidney, lowa. ELLSWORTH PETERSON and his wife Kathryn were in Milford campaigning last Thursday and a M-J photographer snapped their photograph. However. the gremlins were at work and the picture was double exposed. Therefore, only Mr. Peterson’S photo appears in the item about their trip to Milford. Peterson is seeking the Republican party's nomination for state senator from the 13th district. MRS. JERRY (Dixie) Whetten of Michigan found herself in an unusual situation last week. It seems Dixie locked herself in the bathroom at the hospital while visiting her dad. Stan Scott, in the hospital. The maintenance men had to saw the door handle off to get her out'. We’ve heard of trying to cheer people up while they are in the hospital but isn't locking oneself tn the bathroom a bit much? Ol R GUESS is there will be a wind gauge at future Wawasee girls’ track meets. Lorene Spearman, sophomore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Spearman of Dewart Lake, posted an unofficial national prep record at Marion last Saturday. She ran the 100-yard dash in 10.4 seconds but since there wasn’t a
wind gauge at the track the record can not be official. Mrs. Wayne (Irene) Bucher, Dewart Lake housewife who gets her public exposure as clerk at the Milford post office, is being told over and over that she bears a striking resemblance to the First Lady. Betty Ford. Irene, a Democrat, is pleased at the comparison, nonetheless. OUR TOWN’S senatorial candidate will be a busy man next week as the election day falls during the same week as the Food Palaces' Show Boat sale. John B. Augsburger" reports television cameras will also be in the stores next week to help promote the special sale. THE JOHN Perrys can’t help but be proud of their two daughters — Diane and Linda. Diane was chosen as Girls’ Stater about the same time her sister Linda won the Milford and county spelling championship. This week Linda is getting ready for the May 1 area spelling contest in Fort Wayne and her sister Diane has been chosen by MAD members to represent the community in the county fair queen contest. WE HAVE a sad little fire plug in Our Town. Seems someone missed the fire plug in front of the United Methodist church when they were painting them last fall so now he sits there with his old dirty coat on just waiting for warm spring weather so he too can look fresh for the Bicentennial. NO ONE can say that Our Town’s town board president doesn’t try his best to help! When fellow town board member Jean Treesh's husband Glen became ill and was hospitalized Dr. Miller tried to help with medicine of his own .. He presented Treesh with giant, economy size pills —about one inch by three inches long. Treesh intends to show them to his family doctor and question him as to whether or not he should take them whole or cut them up first! Needless to say since T. A. Miller is a veterinarian Treesh does not intend to take the pills but they did provide a good laugh and helped to cheer him up during his illness.
