Wa-Ta-De girls hold meeting A total of 21 members of the Wa-Ta-De Camp Fire youth met in the Scout cabin on April 13. Michele Hooley led the girls in the pledge to the flag Attendance was taken and dues collected byHeather Yoder Bead records were turned in by each girl. Beads will be given out at the flyup Sign-up sheets for a bake sale on May 30 at the Scout cabin, sponsored by Camp Fire, were passed out This sale is to be a part of the Bicentennial festivities planned for Memorial Day week end in Syracuse The sheets are to be returned to the Scout cabin no later than April 30. Girls were reminded that posters were due April 15 for the poster contest The theme was Beautify America The contest is being held in connection with the clean-up day which is scheduled for April 24 The Garden club will judge the posters Ribbons will be

Each patch depicts an event they participated in during the past year in Camp Fire. These patches will be made from felt and each girl will receive a copy of each patch at fly-up There are 26 patches in all. . Refreshments were served bySara Cox and Nancy Ladd. Rhonda Elias, called the meeting to order Siobhan Stevenson led the pledge to the flag and Jackie Hemminger led the Camp Fire law Siobhan read the minuje* of the
last meeting, they were approved Mrs Stevenson took attendance and collected dues. The girls were advised to take the nominating cards. Marlene Overfelt will call the girls on Monday night. The bake sale sheets were passed out to each girl to take home to her parents. The gir’.s turned in bead sheets. Tammy Granger was introduced as a new member Marlene Overfelt served cookies as refreshments. She showed shamrocks her group had made from a salt dough Memorial Day The girls of the council w ill be marching m the Memorial Day parade at Syracuse, wearing their colors Mrs Matthew Neises volunteered to be chairman of a bake sale in May Leaders were asked to be sure articles for the newspaper were complete with first and last names of persons involved. It was noted that the Camp Fire would be in charge of the concession stand at the Syracuse city park this summer and rules for running the stand were studied. I GRAD I ATE — Kent Doty was among the 276 seniors who participated in the 78th commencement exercises at Goshen college on April It. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dale Doty of r 2 Milford. Kent will receive a degree in physical education when he completes graduation requirements in August. The honor rolls were released by the several principals of the Lakeland junior high schools. To be a member of the distinguished honor roll a student may receive more than one B. with the remainder of grades being A’s. They also must have a satisfactory grade in citizenship. Hundreds of schools around the state of Indiana wiU be sponsoring ride-a-bike programs this coming Sunday for the mentally retarded citizens. The Lakeland Community Educators association and the Wawasee Future Educators in Action wiU be joining in this project AU donations collected in the Lakeland bike ride wiU go to the CouncU for the Retarded of Kosciusko county and to the Indiana Association for Retarded Citizens Riders are to find sponsors w ho wiU donate a given amount for each mile ridden. Milford elementary school to hold pioneer day Friday
This Friday, April 23, the Milford elementary school will be having a Pioneer day The whole day will be devoted to learning about and experiencing what happened in the life of America's early pioneer families This is part of the school's Bicentennial celebration During this day the children will be led m many special activities along with their classroom work which will be done with a pioneer flavor In the evening the school will again be open from 6to 7:30 p m to conclude the day's program of events Parents and interested people are invited to visit the Milford Reports damage to vehicle from BB Mark Bradley erf r 1 Beulah. .
