Nazarene church has missionary speaker

A special service is scheduled for 7 p.m Monday, April 19, in the Syracuse Church of the Nazarene and an invitation has been extended to the public to attend the event. Rev. David Browning, a native of South Carolina, will be the guest speaker. Pastor Browning from Olivet Nazarene college at Kankakee, 111, in 1936 with a bachelor of arts degree in English and from Ashbury Theological seminary at Wilmore, Ky., in 1940 with a bachelor of divinity in theology. Browning served in the graduate department of Olivet Nazarene college at Kankakee, 111., as a senior lecturer in world missions and professor of courses in Christian doctrine and principles of Christian service. Since 1971, he has been attached to the department of evangelism and church planning for the Church of the Nazarene mission in the Republic of the Philippines. Easter community services are scheduled at Syracuse

Interfaith organization discuss community needs

The newly formed lay interfaith share organization met this month at Calvary United Methodist church in Syracuse with members of the group from Calvary church serving as hosts. Charles Taylor, who is serving as temporary chairman, called the meeting to order and welcomed new members to the group. Topic of the discussion was on needs in the community. The group discussed possible projects it might undertake to meet some of the community needs. Day Care Center As an immediate project, it was decided to try hnd assist in locating volunteer help for Lakeland Day Care center at Calvary church. ■ Adult volunteers are needed at the center for one. two or any number of hours they could serve on a regular weekly basis.
