Jeffersonville game in the state tournament finals Saturday afternoon must have recognized one of the officials on the floor — Gene Butts of Warsaw. Butts, a competent and well known official, was one of the officials who worked the girls’ basketball tourney in which the Warsaw girls' team emerged victorious In fact, he is the only official to ever officiate at a girls' and boys’ state tourney finals, all in the same year. ' He is the son of former county commissioner and auditor Lawrence Butts and a brother to former North Webster high school basketball coach Donnie Butts. Ron Easley is now back at his old stand’ at Curls Hair Care Center (note the new name), following a tour of duty on the road with Redken products Ron reminds us he is no longer a beautician. “That's the old name." he says. It just won’t die — this bit about women using their husband s names Now comes the following letter, also addressed to "Mr Editor’’: Attn: Mr. Editor "I couldn’t agree more with Pat Price and her reference to women's names Indeed, she worded dwell "1 should like to speak to the next issue you chose to pull out of the quote "Pandora's Box" unquote. I feel you need more than an awakening on this subject: how about an awareness. This is concerning your obvious disapproval of women wearing pant suits in church. You’re probably one of those guys that think the minister's salary is too high if his car is newer than yours or. if he wears a plaid leisure suit, he's getting a little “loose". The fact should always remain that the church is a place of worship to God and therefore deserves respect. When in attendance during worship how can one possibly take time to be concerned if a person meets your approval in wearing a pant suit? no suit, blue jeans, expensive jewelry, or sandals? What are you really there for? To get the congregation's approval? "My understanding is that each person is responsible for him or herself (note I put "him’’’ first) to God. therefore one could not possibly have time to approve (judge) another individuals mode of dress Rather the acknowledgement should be in the fact that the individual is there m the church to worship and for each of us to accept one another as we are — God loves you just as you are — I may not like every thing you do or say but. because I know (it says in the Bible) God loves you too, 1 will accept you as you are Likewise accept others as they are even though you may not like what
they do or say or how they are dressed. "End of sermon. "Thank you if you choose to give this message a space in your paper. '‘Diana M. Walker. P.O. Box 233. North Webster. Ind."
