Else PAUL L. LANTZ Paul L. Lantz Funeral services were held Munday for Paul L. Lantz. 61. of 518 South Lake street. Syracuse One of the founders of Syracuse Rubber Products Co., he died at 9:15 pm Friday in Elkhart hospital where he had been admitted on Thursday and was due to cancer A native of Goshen. Lantz served as president of Syracuse Rubber at the time of his retirement in 1970 A son.of Jesse and Hattie (Stroman) he was bom on February 21. 1915 He was employed with Goshen Rubber company from 1933-1947, moving to Syracuse 25-years ago from Goshen His marriage to the former Mary Jane Stewart took place in November of 1940 She survives Mr Lantz was a 31-year member of the Goshen Elks lodge, member and past president of the Tippecanoe Lake Country club, member and president of the Syracuse Lions club and belonged to Saint Andrew’s United Methodist church at Syracuse In addition to the wife, he is survived by one son, John. Auburn; two daughters. Mrs. James (Linda) Connolly and Mrs Judith Schacht, both of San .Antonio. Texas; seven grandchildren. and two brothers, Joseph of Elkhart and Glen. Haines City, Fla Interment was in Violett cemetery Memorials may be made to the Lions club eye program Mrs. Alva L. Pinkerton Mrs Alva L. (Chloe M ) Pinkerton. 68. of Milford died Sunday. March 14, in the Elkhart hospital of myeloma. She had been ill for six months Born in Kosciusko county December 1. 1907 to John L and Laura (Hagg) Hibschman, she has been a lifelong resident of the Neu Paris, Syracuse. North Webster TAKEN TO HOSPITALS Two women were taken to hospitals by the Syracuse emergency unit during the week end. Hazel Vanderveer. 83. 123 North Shore drive. Syracuse, was taken to Goshen hospital early Sunday evening after becoming ill at her home. The unit responded to a call at the Beacon for Jeanette Hutchinson, 68, r 1 Warsaw, She was transported to Whitley County hospital in Columbia City. Eric Grove recovering Eric Grove, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grove of Milford, is recovering from injuries suffered when he ran between parked cars last Thursday and into the path of an oncoming car. His left leg was run over by the car. Eric was taken to the Goshen hospital where he is expected to remain for another week. He suffered a break to the big bone in the leg and abrasions. The alphabetical listing contains antidote information for substances by both generic and brand name. In the kit are agents for immediate treatment of 125 substances commonly found in the home. Use of the kit allows immediate emergency care until professional medical help can be administered. Promotion of the kit is being made in conjunction with National Poison Prevention week. March 14-18. Emergency counter dose charts are also available at no charge in all stores. Each year more than 24 million children are poisoned in homes, sometimes causing permanent injury and even death. Such poisonings are caused by common household and medical substances. Discussion was held at the last meeting regarding the plant sale, the forthcoming ceremonial, a car wash project and the garden club sponsored poster contest next month Proof that most folks overeat The American Medical Association’s Council on Food and Nutrition says that by the time the average American reaches the age of 70 he or she will have eaten the equivalent of 150 head of cattle, 2,400 chickens, 225 lambs. 26 sheep, 310 swine. 26 acres of grain and 50 acres of fruits and vegetables. The Council says if you feel you’ve consumed more than these amounts, it’s time to slim down.

Funeral services w-ill be held tomorrow (Thursday) in Ligonier for Duane Sprague. 44, r 2 Syracuse Sprague was killed Monday night when his car left Main street at the south edge of Milford, sheared a tree and ran into Turkey Creek. Death cameat 11:25 p.m. in the Goshen hospital. Causes were listed as head injuries and suffocation. Police officers at the Ligonier post said Sprague was going south at 10:42 p.m. at a high rate of speed when his car went off the road. It hit the tree which was located on the property of Mrs. Hugh Snyder, then went into the creek coming to rest with the driver's side in three feet of water. The tree fell on top of the vehicle with Sprague trapped inside. A fire broke out and Milford firemen responded with the emergency unit and investigating officers. The fire, which caused no problem, was extinguished quickly. The Warsaw fire department was called to assist and used power prying equipment to free Sprague from the auto. He was then rushed to the Goshen
