Mr. Vanator was a veteran of World War 11. member of the American Legion, post 253 at North Webster, of the VFW at Syracuse and the Kosciusko county 40 et 8 at Warsaw. Leo D. Bice Leo D. Bice. 69. of Mishawaka died February 24 at 3:45 a m. in the Saint Joseph hospital in Mishawaka of an apparent heart attack. Mr Bice was the father of Donald D Bice of Milford A resident of Mishawaka for 50 years, he was bom February 22. 1907 in Paulding county. Ohio He married Rose Perrot of Bremen on August 1927 Bice was a member of Lodge 130. Free and Accepted Mason in Mishawaka Besides his wife and Milford son other survivors are another son. Roger Bice of Mishawaka, four daughters. Mrs Ervin Nowicke. Mrs Sylvester Kubacki. Mrs Donald Paul, all of Mishawaka and Mrs John Dregits. Ariz . and formerly of the Syracuse community Death was due ,tp cancer and came at the Doctor's hospital in Phoenix on February 21. He had been a patient for three weeks Mr Gottschalk was bom in Covington. Ky., on August 15. 1913. a son of Mr. and Mrs. Feeder: k S Gottschalk His marriage to the former Dorothy Smeeton, took place September 30. 1940 A resident of the Syracuse community from 1943 1960, he was co-owner with Ray Frevert of the Wawasee Lumber company in Syracuse, was at one time co-owner with Allen Spencer in the Pickwick Lounge and worked at Bendix in South Bend. Goshen Auto Electric, an Liberty Coach company at Syracuse. Mr. Gottschalk was also a member of the masonic lodge at Syracuse, the Chamber of Commerce. Clela B. Carlisle Mrs. Joseph (Clela) Carlisle, 75. of r 1 Leesburg, died Wednesday. Feb 25. at 9 a m. in the Whitley county hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. A native of Payne. Ohio, she was born June 22. 1900, the daughter of Manford and Caroline (Gaut) Lawson, Mrs. Carlisle moved to Kuhn Lake six years ago. she resided previously in Fort Wayne and Big Lake. She was married to Joseph W. Carlisle on August 22. 1925. He preceded her in death on August 31. 1971. Mrs. Carlisle was a member of the Church of Christ, Payne. Ohio. Survivors of Mrs. Carlisle are four grandchildren; one greatgrandson; two brothers. Emmett Lawson, Fort Wayne and Orland Lawson. Toledo. Ohio. One son. Wayne; and three sisters preceded her in death. Bunal was in the South Park cemetery- near Columbia City. Harry E. Cleveland Funeral services were held Saturday morning for HarryElmer Cleveland. 80. of 213 West Brooklyn street, Syracuse. Death came unexpected at his home around 5 p.m. on Thursday due to an apparent heart attack. He had. however, been in failing health for some time. Born at Carey, Ohio, on November 4, to Luther and Melissa (Morgan) Cleveland, he spent most of his life in the Syracuse community. A retired laborer, he also worked for Wilt's in Syracuse and Eldred Mabie in the trucking business some years back. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Peggy) Wysong of Syracuse. Mrs. Fletcher (Virginia) Marsh. Syracuse and Mrs. Henry (Cartha) Barth. Hammond; and a number of nieces and nephews. Interment was in Syracuse cemetery-

February 25. from the Goshen hospital to the Elkhart hospital Andres Garza, 23, Milford, suffered first and second degree bums to his arms, face and neck when a glue pit exploited at the Sea Nymph Boat company in Syracuse, Thursday, Feb. 27, at 8:30 a.m. He was taken to the Goshen hospital by the Syracuse ambulance. Mrs. Earl Treadway of Syracuse was released Sunday from Goshen hospital where she had been a patient since February 23 for tests and treatment. HARVEY SPEICHER, IN INDIANAPOLIS HOSPITAL Harvey Speicher, Milford, has been in the Wishard Memorial hospital in Indianapolis since February 18.
