Warriors make narrow escape, win thriller
By JOAN BULETTY The Wawasee Warriors had another narrow escape last Friday night when they slid ahead of the Rochester Zebras; 58-57.| Bob Heady’s Wawasee team were in charge throughout the entire game, but in the last minutes of the final quarter the tables were turned. Rochester put op a full court press which sent the Warrior substitutes into a state of minor shock. The Zebrah adrenaline was really flowing as the game neared its end the entire Wawasee gym was [ shouting. jumping, screaming and surprisedly watching the gap on the scoreboard vanish The) Clock showed only 29 when:the Warriors were ahead only by a narrow margin of 56-55. Norm Vanlaningham, Wawasee center, shined in the spotlight Friday night He turned in an excellent performance of 18 rebounds and 14 points Ganz contributed two more than him with a big 16 total points; however those two extra points were what won the game in the end and made the rest of the nights efforts more worthwhile. Larry Allen is another Warrior who deserves credit for a fine night of 14 rebounds and 11 points Rochester s top scorers were Skip Harshman with 16 points.

Milford junior high students win NISBOVA honors Saturday
The Milford junior high students participated in the NISBOVA contest at Culver in wind and percussion solo and ensemble contest on February 7. Wawasee students receive 76 medals at district contest
Wawasee high school students received 56 gold medals and 20 silver medals at the district music contest in Culver last Saturday. North Webster students take honors at NISBOVA
Thirty-four North Webster junior high school music students won a total of 20 gold medals and 21 silver medals at the NISBOVA solo and ensemble contest held Saturday at Culver high school The honors were won in 11 solo entries and nine ensemble entries. Syracuse junior high brings home NISBOVA contest medals
The students of Syracuse junior high school’s band participated in the northern Indiana schools band, orchestra and vocal association contest held Saturday at Culver, bringing home 30 medals. Lakeland Community School Corporation has received notification from Janet I. Harris, executive director of the Indiana Arts Commission, of a grant for a theatre project. Milford junior high school music students brought home many honors from theNISBOVA music contest in Fort Wayne, on January 31. Piano, string and orchestra solo and ensemble contests were held the same day at the Fairfield junior high school, with Milford students participating. Haverkamp, vice president for academic affairs. They include Amy Purdum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Purdum, Syracuse. Miss Purdum is a freshman at Hanover, she is a 1975 graduate of Wawasee high school. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better during an enrollment period at the private liberal arts college to be eligible for placement on dean’s list. Printed notice of the honor is sent to each student by the vice president for academic affairs. \
