Donald K. Whittig Funeral services were held Sunday for Donald K. Whittig. 67. r 2 Syracuse. Death came at his home on Friday morning and was due to complications following a twoyear period of illness. A retired railroad employee, he had resided at Lake Wawasee since 1952. moving from the Ashly community. He was born in Brook on June 2.1908. a son of Edmond and Eliza (Personett) Whittig J , Survivors include one brother. Bayard of Eaton and one sister. Mrs. Edith Andrews, r 2 Syracuse Lemar Hooker Services were held Monday for Lemar Hooker, 62, r 2 Argos, brother cf Ervin Cook, North Webster. Death came at 7:20 p.m. Friday at Parkview hospital in Plymouth where he had been a patient for three days. Bom ini Argos on May 14, 1913, he was a son of Ray and Cenie Hooker. His wife, the former Zella Fejar, preceded him in death in 1961. His marriage to Jean Vanes, who survives, took place December 20. 1974 at Plymouth Mr. Hooker, former owner of Hooker Sand and GraveL was a retired heavy equipment operator and veteran of World War 11. He was a member of the Legion at Argos and Tippecanoe Pony Pullers association. In addition to the widow and brother. Ihe is survived by one son. Richard, Argos; three grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; his father of Argos; and onei sister, Mrs. Frank (Edna) Huffing. Argos. Interment was in Argos Maple Grove cemetery Ray J. Swank Ray J Swank. 81, of 231 E Plymouth, Bremen, died of an apparent coronary attack February 8, at 11 am., while the Swanks were at the winter resort town of Talmettor, Fla He was the father of. Larry Swank, of Syracuse. A lifetime resident of Bremen, he was bom August 2, 1894 to Jacob arid Alice (Bates) Swank He married Gladys York May 27, 1922 in Bremen Mr Swank, a retired farmer, was a WWI veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 191 of Bremen He is survived by his wife; three sons. Larry. Syracuse, Robert, i LaPorte and Donald. Bremen | four daughters. Mrs Maxine Tyson. Mrs Marilyn Hawking, and Mrs. Carol Hall, all of Bremen and Mrs Jeri Martratt, Miami Lake, Fla.. 22 grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Also, surviving are two brothers. Ervin and Clarence; and one sister Mrs.

Lemna, 69, ot 4 Meadow Lane drive, Nappanee, died Sunday morning in the Elkhart hospital where he had been a patient for four days. He had been ill the past year with cancer. Mrs. Don (Marianne) Mewszel, Milford, was his stepdaughter. Bom in Kosciusko county on June 16, 1906 to William and Mary (Brenner) Lemna, he married Jeanne Wilson Reed on April 9. 1966 A barber for 51 years m Nappanee, he was an army veteran of World War II; a member of the Brethren In Christ church. Nappanee; the American Legion and Masonic lodge, Nappanee; and the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine. Survivors in addition to his wife and stepdaughter are another stepdaughter. Mrs. Robert (Judith) Toney. Nappanee; one stepson. Jerry Reed, Ocala. Fla.; nine step-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank and Earl Lemna, Nappanee and Leonard Lemna. Bloomingdale, Mich. One sister and one brother preceded him in death. Services were held today (Wednesday) in the WrightYoder funeral heme of Nappanee. Officiating at the service was Rev Eugene Wingert of the I Nappanee Brethren In Christ church. Burial was in the Union Center cemetery Mrs. Clem Stump Mrs Clem (Clara Isabel!) Stump. 69, Bashor road, Goshen, mother of Gordon Sheline, Jr., r 4 Syracuse and Donald Sheline, r 2 Syracuse, passed away Friday in Saint Joseph hospital at South Bend, where she had been admitted January 13 to undergo eye surgery Mrs Stump suffered a heart attack at the hospital before having the surgery and death was attributed to a cardiac arrest Mrs. Stump was born May 2, 1906 in Goshen. Her marriage to Gordon Sheline, Sr., took place May 3,1977 and he died in August of 1969 She was married to Clem C. Stump on November 3, 1973. He survives. She was a member of the First Church of God and previous employment included Kline's, the Proof company, and Chase Bag Co., all in Goshen. Other survivors include another son. David Rick Sheline of Vancouver. Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. David (ZoAnn) Myers, r 7 Goshen, two stq> daughters. Mrs. Rubye Williams of Goshen and Mrs. John Reed, LaGrange; nine grandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren; four sisters, and one brother. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Burial was in New Paris cemetery.
Harold Boyer Funeral services were held Friday for Harold Boyer, 73, r 4 Goshen and father of Jim D. Boyer of Syracuse. Death came on Tuesday at Goshen hospital where he had been admitted on January 25. He had been in failing health for three months. Mr. Boyer was born in Elkhart county on June 2, 1902. a son of William and Ellen (Bechtel) Boyer. His marriage to the former Lottie Vance took place September 14, 1924 and she survives. The deceased was last employed at Goshen Rubber, and had been farming sor 4 13-years. He had been active in 4-H work and a retired member of the New Paris volunteer fire department. He is also survived by three others sons. Billy O. Boyer of Detroit. Mich., Jack P. Boyer with the U. S. Navy at Lemoore, Calif., and George H. Boyer, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Berdine) Barron. Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Frederick (Clarabell) Bigler of Goshen. Mrs. Jane Swoveland of Nappanee, and Mrs. Sam (Sue) Keene of Goshen; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister; one half sister; and one half brother. Burial was in Maple Grove cemetery at New Paris. Paul W. Billman Services were held Saturday for Paul W. Billman, 74, Goshen and a native of Syracuse. Death came Thursday afternoon at Peterson’s nursing home. Goshen, where he was admitted on January 29. Death was due to complications following an illness of one year. Mr. Billman was born in Syracuse on February 14, 1901, • the son of Eugene W. and Hattie (Nicklas) Billman. His marriage to the former Evelyn L. Miller took place in Goshen on October 9. 1937. The deceased retired in 1966 from Goshen Rubber Co. where he was a lathe operator. He was a member of the Goshen Moose lodge and Goshen Eagles lodge. Surviving are the wife; two children, Mrs. Karim (Loretta) Tavakoi of Grenada Hills, Calif., and a son, John C. Billman, at home; and a sister. Mrs. Eva Becker of Albion. Burial was in Violett cemetery. Grace Grossman Mrs. Graham (Grace) Grossman. 77, of Bourbon, a former resident of Milford, died Tuesday in the Bremen hospital. A past school teacher and coowner of the Grossman Dairy, Mrs. Grossman was born February 16.1898 near Milford to John and Hannah (Smith) Huitema In 1923 she married Graham Grossman who survives. In addition to her husband she is survived by five daughters, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister and two brothers. The funeral was Friday at the First Methodist church in Bourbon. Births VANDIVER infant Mr and Mrs. Dennis Vandiver cf r 1 North Webster are the parents of a son born at Goshen hospital on Saturday, Feb. 7. LAUB daughter Mr. and Mrs. Dan Laub of 163 North Shore drive, Syracuse, are the parents of a daughter born on Sunday. Feb. 8, at Goshen hospital. ASHBY son Mr. and Mrs. Glen G. Ashby, Leesburg, are parents of a son bom at 1:50 a m. February 3 at the Murphy Medical Center. The newborn tipped the scales at five pounds, five ounces. TOM. Kasandra Lyn Mr. and Mrs. Kip Tom of Leesburg are the proud parents of their second daughter, born Monday, Feb. 9. at 1:36 am. in the Goshen hospital.
