Warriors fall to the Wildcats and Knights

Bv JOAN BVLETTY The Wakasee Warriors varsity basketball team fell to Whitko on Friday ni|Jht, 73-62. and were j defeated Una thriller 76-74 Saturday iiight by East Noble. Plagued by cold shooting in Friday flight's clash, the Warriors a halt to their threegame winning streak The Wafnors hit the mark on only 23 of 74. while Whitko whizzed oh by bucketing 26 of 51 for a big 51 per cent shooting against Wawasee’s 29 per cent Commanding Lead The fin|t quarter saw Whitko take a commanding 14-8 lead due to the frigid Warrior offense The usually dependable shooters for Wawasee just failed to come through By the time half time rolled * around. Whitko had moved ahead 32-16 Fouling had both teams in trouble, but especially put Wawasee in jeopardy. The game appeared to be a very physical contest indeed with 49 fouls galled m the game Well Ahead Whitko was still well ahead at the close of the third period of play by a score of 51-37. Warriorettes to open sectional

Wawasee’s girl basketball team will be traveling to the North Wood sectional tonight (Wednesday). ■ ! The Warriors, defeated Fairfield Saturday to end their regular season at 6-5. They will play the Bremen team in the first game at 7:30 p.m. , The North Wood Panthers meet the Falcons at 7 p.m. Thursday. Bethany Christian will take on the winner of the WawaseeBremen encounter at 8:30. The final games are set for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Warriors are led by forward Barb Brouwer, who has a 13.1 average.
