Traviolia then marched his tribe to the dressing room, maintaining a beautiful 20-0 lead over the surprised Zebras The Warriors returned and started in immediately on moving the ball. On a fourth down with only one yard, to go. Cripe scored and Bauman picked up the two point conversion. The Zebras failed to move, Wawasee was in charge again. Two passes to Bauman gave the tribe a first down and then two more, the second of which was a terrific run by Bauman. Steve Kroh caught the touchdown pass in a dive to bring the score up to 35-0. The fourth quarter was what broke Wawasee’s perfect record of 126-0 points in their three games Na far into the quarter the Zebras edged closer and closer to the Warrior end zone. Dan Beck scored the touchdown fa Rochester on a one yard run and Shambarger kicked the extra point The Zebras ended their damage there and the ball went back and forth until time ran out. The Warrior strong defense was led by Nelson Preston, who had nine tackles and six assists. Larry Allen and Mike Stork were right behind him with seven and six tackles respectively. Quarterback, Keith Cripe completed 10 passes out of 22 attempts for 98 total yards. Steve Kroh caught four passes fa a total of 49 yards, and Dan Walker grabbed two for a total of 27 yards. Bauman was the leading rusher, gaining 132 yards on 21 carries Joel Popenfoose had 25 yards on eight carries and Nelson Preston ga 16 yards on just three carries The Warriors now have a fantastic combined total of 1.029 offensive yards which is 323 in the air and 706 on the ground This is a difficult record to beat for the

The team’s coaches are George Vitaniemi and Tony Clouse. The team started out on a wet, cold day with the field slick and intermittent showers throughout the game. The Warriors gained 126 yards by passing and 33 by rushing. Dave Stoffel scored a touchdown on a 63 yard touchdown pass from Rick Cripe. Ray Gerber led the defense with 10 tackles and four assists, Phil Beer and Mike Clark each had eight tackles.
JV whips Rochester By JOAN BULETTY The Wawasee junior varsity football team whipped Rochester Saturday. 30-14. In three games they have outscored their opponents 82-28 for a 3-0 record. All of the sewing for the Warriors took place in the first half of the game with the final score for the tribe caning with only 9 seconds left in the half. This was scored on a pass from Brian Smith to Steve Cromer. During the second half Rochester scored twice and made one two point conversion In the first half Brian Smith threw for 194 yards, completing six of 12 passes. The Warriors also stacked up 136 yards rushing while the tough Wawasee defense held Rochester to only 38 yards rushing and 0 in passing. Warrior tennis team drops two By JOAN BULETTY The Wawasee tennis team lost two matches last week. They were beaten by Bremen last Tuesday 6-1 at Bremen, and by Rochester on their home courts. In the Bremen game, Rob Zurcher and Vince Rhodes were victorious in their number one doubles match, 6-2 and 6-1 over Cox and Cather (B). Mark Krug won his singles match, 11-9 in the Rochester meet over Lee (R). John Carlin and Mark Lantz were winners in the number one doubles match, 10-5 over Sterry and Ward (R).
