the girls lost a real heartbreaker 10-9 to Thompson in the eighth inning Tonight (Wednesday) the first game will start at 6 pm. at Rodger’s park Wawasee — Black Knight Nancy Shock. Tammy Schumn. Betsy Williams. Barb Brouwer. Phyllis Horvath. Man' Kitson. Killie White each had four hits in the game against Black Knight with Wawasee winning 38-11. The game was called at the end of the fifth inning due to the 15 run rule. Tammy Schumn had a home run for Wawasee Horvath was the winning pitcher while Fry took the loss Wawasee — IRV Kathi Replogle. Betsy Williams. Barb Brouwer. Brenda Replogle and Martha Salazar had three hits each as the Warriorettes defeated IRV 10-10. Barb Brouwer had a home run for Wawasee Horvath was the winning pitcher, while Van Hoot took the kiss Thompsons — Wawasee This one took eight innings before Thompsons pushed across a run with two outs on an error. The local girls fought back from an 8-2 deficit to tie the game 9-9 in the seventh inning .After two outs, a base hit. stolen base and an error allowed the winning run to score. Girls end league play Last Thursday Thompsons Boby Shop defeated the Wawasee Warriorettes by the score of 15-6 to win the league title with a perfect 14 wins and no loss record For the local girls. Betsy Williams. Barb Brouwer and Nancy Shock had two hits each. Harvath took the loss while Miller was the winner. The first inning was the real downfall as Thompsons pushed across eight runs Defeat Black Knight On Friday Wawasee came back strong to beat Black Knight by the score of 30-5. Jenny Hughes, Shelly Dahlstrom. Tammy Schumn. Jeanie Dye. Phyllis Horvath and Diane Tracy, all had three hits. In the second inning Wawasee scored 16 runs Barb Brouwer hit a home run. Williams and Schumn shared mound duties for Wawasee with Schumn getting the win. Money took the loss for the Black Knights. Hits and Misses league to meet The organizational meeting of the Hits and Misses bowling league will be held Wednesday, Aug. 20. at 7:30 p.m. at Wawasee Bowl. Officers of the mixed league which bowls at 9 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at the bowling alley south of Syracuse are: President — Vernon (Bud) Slabaugh Vice president — John Miller Secretary-treasurer — Mrs. Jeffery (Susan) Corn Any couple or individual interested in bowling in this league may attend this important meeting or contact one of the above officers. /j lltilfortfk I / Summer I The championships have been played and the season closed with the following results: T-Ball Championship In the T-Ball championship the Orioles met the Cubs. Jay Baumgartner. Havier, Melendez and Oscar Pena. Jr., each scored three runs to lead the Orioles to the T-Ball championship over the Cubs 26 to 15. Darin Hostetler scored three runs for the Cubs. Girls Minor Champs Ann Collins hit a three run homer and. Penny Hoover smashed a grand slam homer to power the Phillies to a 15 to 12 championship over the Dodgers. Dawn Young pitched a fine game for the Phillies. Norine Sorensen scored three runs for the Dodgers. Girls Major Champs The Braves, behind Andrea Henson and Vicki Evans hitting fielding, upset the Giants to win the championship 15 to nine. Sonya Hoover and Lori Clark each had two hits for the losing Giants. Little League The Cards, playing like the champions they were soon to be. ripped the Twins 14 to 4. Jay Auer smashed four hits, scored three runs, knocked in four runs and was the winning pitcher for the Cards. Pat Speicher and Jim Salazar also had two hits apiece for the winning Cards. Sam Beer led the Twins with two hits and two runs.
