In the top photo he caught Mrs. Jim Baker as she mowed her lawn. In the second photo he found two young men relaxing along a shore line as they tried their luck at fishing The bottom photo was taken on Saturday and shows swimmers who participated in the Swim-a-Thon as they made their way across the blue waters of Lake Wawasee. In the distance are the boats which accompanied them and on the other side of the lake is a sailboat race in progress.

Waubee Lake Property Owners plan for September 1 barbecue
The board of directors of the Waubee Lake Property Owners Association met in the home of Youth Center fish fry to be August 1 The Lakeland Youth Center will sponsor a Jonah style fish fry. all you can eat. on Friday, Aug I. from 445 p m at the center in Syracuse The center, with Dan Caskey as director, serves the youth of the Syracuse. Milford and North Webster communities. It provides a wide variety of activities to meet the interests and needs of all the youth in the Lakeland area. Student members of the center are presently involved in a contest selling tickets to the fish fry. The top sellers in the contest will be awarded an overnight trip to King's Island at Cincinnati. To earn their expenses for the trip, the kids will conduct a carnival in the Youth Center parking 10l during the hours of the fish fry A variety of games and activities for kids of all ages will be offered in conjunction with the fish fry. Mfawasee ski dub hopeful of a state championship
The Wawasee Ski club has been practicing in order to try to stop the winning streak of the North Webster Ski Bees. A large turn out is hoped for the Indiana state tournament in Fairland. At the last meeting on Thursday the Wawa Skiers decided to enter the Dewart Ski show tournament on August 9. The club
Fourth annual Fun Fest 5 set at North Manchester
The fourth annual Fun Fest 5 road race and Run For Fun will be held in North Manchester on Saturday, Aug. 16. at 10 a.m. at Main and Market streets. The races are open to all ages. Both the Fun Fest 5 and the Run For Fun 1.5 miler will be run concurrently. Large trophies will be given to the first 10 places, plaques with medals will be given to 10th to 20th place and medallions for 20th to 30th place with ribbons for all who finish Ribbons will be given to all who compete in the Run For Fun 1.5

The president of the board said there would be two meetings of the lake association instead of the usual one. The reason for the change is to better inform its members and interested persons. These meetings will be held in January and July. All members will receive notices prior to the meetings. The possibility of getting the silt pit started the first of September was discussed. This pit will be used to filter out silt entering the lake. Use of the old spawning pond across from the public beach for spawning fish for the lake was discussed The next board meeting will be held the end of August
In November they gave thanks for their many Messings. Their annual tree decorating was held in December with the Cub Scouts at the scout cabin. Carols were sung, prayers were said and decorations, in the form of food for the wild animals, were left at the tree at Crosson Park. January found them making plans for parents’ parties, sledding. Valentine parties and an array of various happenings in the individual group level. During February the fourth, fifth and sixth grade Adventure level girls went to South Bend to the Ice Capades. March brought birthday month with Church Sunday being held at Saint Andrew's United Methodist church. Many trips were taken to pizza shops, hamburger shops, wax factories and a skiing party. You name it, someone in Camp Fire was planning it. March also found the Discovery club at the State House in Indianapolis for the day. They met with many state government officials. April found some groups working on their beads, others making special items for Mother's day and groups going on hikes. All worked on clean-up day with several other organizations

in Syracuse. In May they participated in the Memorial day parade and were getting ready for their annual ceremonial. Lots of work when they would rather be outside, but when June 1 came around they had 24 Blue Birds fly-up into the Adventure level, 14 Adventure girls are nownew Discovery girls. More than 100 girls from Syracuse received awards from their leaders, while approximately 100 proud parents watched. They will not be stopping there — some of the groups are meeting once a month this summer. Also. Day camp hap-

pens in August with approximately 70 girls registered and all are looking forward to next year. Much support goes into a Camp Fire program. The board members, leaders, assistant leaders, sponsors and parents all give their time. The group also receives support from the United Fund of Kosciusko county and from the community. “With this continued support. Mrs. Stevenson says, “we can only grow and continue to give the girls of this community a chance to develop as individuals and grow up as adults we can be proud of.”
