Super Porpoise Regatta set for July 26 at Tippy

The Lake Tippecanoe Sailing dub will host a Super Porpoise Regatta on Saturday. July 26. There will be six trophies given to the winners in the three-race regatta. The skippers* meeting for the regatta will be at 19 a m at the Patona Boat Co. at the west end of Lake Tippecanoe. All Porpoise

Wawasee girls finish third in semi-state

After being trumped in the first game by the Jewelers of Mishawaka by the score of 22-9 the Wawasee girls bounced back to finish third in the semi-state tournament over the past week end. The girls did a great job for the first year and really did their best in the tourney. A run down on the girls results are as follows: Mishawaka — Wawasee Being the first game for the gals in the tourney the Mishawaka Jewelers game seemed to give them the jitters and Mishawaka won 22-0. Kathi Replogle. Barb Brouwer and Phyllis Harvath had the only hits for the Warriorettes. All 7 girls played in this game for the locals. Warriorette Victory One of the best games the girls played this year saw them defeat Mishawaka by the score of 12-6. This was the second game of the day for both teams. Mary Kitson made the catch of the game back handing a line shot in right field. For Wawasee. Betsy Williams had three hits, as did Jeannie Dye. Kathi Replogle, Barb Brouwer and Phyllis Harvath had two hits each. Tammy Schumn had a home run. Harvath was the 'dinner while Crawford took the loss.

Marge Kavanaugh wins ladies handicap tourney

The recent Maxwelton ladies handicap tournament for the 18 hole group was won by Marge Kavanaugh. Dot Stiver was runner-up. The nine hole winner was Polly Bonar. Jo Butler was runner-up. Wawasee Over Thompsons This was the best all around game played by the“Warriorettes as they defeated Thompsons 3-2. The W’arriorettes were leading 2-0 going into the seventh inning. Thompsons came back to score two runs only to have the W’arriorettes come back and win on Betsy Williams hit with Kathi Replogle scoring the winning run in the last half of the seventh. Defense was excellent for both teams in this game. It was a big win for the girls for Thompsons had beaten them twice in earlier meetings this year. For Wawasee. Nancy Shock. Tammy Schumn. Jeannie Dye. Betsy Williams and Martha Salazar had the only hits. Phyllis Harvath was the winning pitcher while Swartley took the loss. This victory put the girls up against the team from Mishawaka that defeated them earlier 22-0. Jewelers Stop Wawasee This game was quite different than the game played the previous day. The girls got plenty of hits and runs, but a few errors really hurt, especially in the fifth inning when the Jewelers scored 11 times.
