Bloodmobile visit surpasses quota

Milford’s Red Cross bloodmobile visit yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon surpassed the established quota 18 pints as 158 pints were collected from 164 presenting themselves as donors A total of 47 doners visited the bloodmobile for the first time in Kosciusko county, 37 replacement donations were made for blood recipients in hospitals outside t’ e Fort Wayne regional Red Cn\.s area. Dave Rieder wins regatta at Tippecanoe The Fpurth of July Regatta was riffi off on Saturday and Sunday with Dave Rieder in a Hobie 16 taking home the big prize — first place for all boats in the regatta. In addition Dave won the first place trophy in the Hobie 16 class. John Emrich took second place in the Hobie 16 class, followed by Howard Johnson in third place. Chuck Hill took fourth, followed by Bill Thompson and Ken Davidson. In the Hobie 14 class Rusty Haughey took the first place trophy with Dave Ponsler in second and Kathy Wise, third. In the Super Porpoise class John Bundy came in first, followed by Jim Murray in second and Dick Brown in third. The Tippecanoe Sailing club will have regattas the next three Saturdays. On July 12 there will be a Hobie Cat regatta open to all skippers of Hobie 16’s, 14’s, and 12's. On July 19 there will be open racing with any type of a boat being eligible, as places will be figiffed on a handicap system. On July 26 the sailing club will host an area Super Porpoise regatta with skippers from three states participating in preparation for the Super Porpoise Nationals on August 16 near Dowagiac. Mich. Ind. 46538 Accident at Dairy Queen An accident occurred over the week end in the Syracuse Dairy Queen parking lot. A 1971 Chevy driven by Ronald P. Emrick. 30, of Fort Wayne backed into a 1972 Chevy driven by Ida Ilczuk. 18. of LaGrange. Syracuse police investigated. Three Flags is sold to Oswalds Todd Realty of Syracuse and Lake Wawasee announces the sale of the Three Flags drive in restaurant in Wawasee Village. The new owners are Jack and Genevieve Oswald of Fort Wayne. They will be assisted by their sons and hope to make their home in the Syracuse area.

■ft iMVfI ®- WAWASEE PREP CATHOLIC YOUTH ORGANIZATION — July 6 marked the beginning of the third week of Catholic Youth Organization camp at Wawasee Prep in Syracuse. Pictured above are Sue Geoffery (back row. far left) and her counselors and staff. This is the last week of girls’ CYO to be followed by three weeks of boys’ CYO. Campers range in age from eight to 14 and participate in a variety of summer activities including arts and crafts, swimming instruction, canoeing, sports activity, archery, etc. Father Eugene Zimmerman of Saint Martin’s parish in Syracuse is the diocesan director of the CYO and is still taking reservations for the up-coming weeks of the boys’ camp. He can be reached at the parish. The CYO camps are part of the Wawasee Prep host programs.

State police report is issued for June

Indiana State Police at Ligonier post have announced the following end of the month report for the month of June on their activities in Kosciusko county. Hours worked: 1,133 Miles patrolled: 19,115 Accidents investigated: 19 Arrests effected: 100 Warnings issued: 159 Dealer plates stolen from car Warner Morgan of r 1 Syracuse reported to Syracuse police that his license plates were lost or stolen at the South Shore golf course. The report came at 2:13 p.m. on July 6. The dealer plates were missing from a 1958 Chevy. S3BO damages at Bitner's Bitner Antiques. SR 13, near North Webster, received an estimated total of S3BO damages over the week end. Herscel Bitner, owner, reported to Kosciusko county police that someone shattered the four-by-six foot thermopane window and a picture frame glass over the week end. Damage was done by a bullet. The slug was recovered.

Motorists assisted: 35 Lieutenant Edward C. Anweiler, district commander, reports that six troopers assigned tfl the county were responsible for the above work. The Ligonier district comprises the seven northeastern counties of the state and officers conducted 109 criminal investigations which resulted in the arrests of 31 persons. Six persons have been fatally injured in rural accidents in Kosciusko county during the six months of 1975 as compared to 14 persons during this same period in 1974. For the seven county district, 27 persons lost their lives in traffic accidents as compared to 48 persons this same period last year . This is a reduction of 21 lives.
