Jeff Nbit of Fort Wayne Snider and Rob Staley; of Warsaw tied for fourth place with 54 points each Fort Wayne Snider high school’s physical education department and the Warsaw Jaycees each received SIOO as sponsors. Hossler, Nbit and Staley were crowned Knights of Camelot. Riggs Challenges Tennis pro Bobby Riggs participated in all events although he received no score. He then challenged banker and Palace of Sports founder J. Homer Shoop to a free throw contest with the loser to give SIW to the foundation Shoop used a basketball and Riggs used a football. The visitor won as he made seven of 10 shots. Shoop then challenged the knight contestants. Each made nine of 10 shots with a basketball but could not break Riggs record with a football
Rochester tops swim club in opening meet
The Wawasee Swim club lost its first meet of the season to Rochester 166 to 389 In the eight years old and under category Suzanne Baumgartner placed third in the short free style. In the nine and 10 year category. Jennifer Darr took first in the short free, individual medley and long free; June Brown took second in the breaststroke and third in the individual medley. The 11-12 age group winners were. Dianne Dieterly, third short and long free. Mark Crum, second in short free and third in breaststroke; Troy Webb took second in the individual medley ft $ £# & D 1 MP' } w Wawasee girls come from behind to win After trailing 21-6 in the fifth inning, the Wawasee girls came back to score 11 runs in the fifth, two runs in the sixth and three in the seventh inning to win’ 22-21 over Middlebury Jaycees Walks and errors hurt the local girls as Middlebury received 14 walks in the first five innings. For Wawasee. Jeanne Dye s hit in the seventh inning brought in Mary Kit son with the winning nzi. Jeanne Dye had five hits; Kathi Replogle. Phyllis Horvath and Martha Salazar had two hits each Horvath was the winning pitcher while Blough took the loss. The next game will be Wednesday (tonight l at Goshen. The 18 hole Land of Lakes invitational was played at Maxwelton golf club near Syracuse oh June 25 with 86 ladies participating.
