Jim Salazar and Greg Slough led Milford in the hitting department Stopped By Leesburg Leesburg easily defeated Milford in the championship game of the tournament The final score was Leesburg 14, Milford 2. Mark Evans hit a home run for Milford. Card* - Sox Pat Speicher pitched the Cards to a nine to two victory over the sox. Jay Auer and Gary Gerencser each scored three runs for the Cards Chris Woiferman and Brad LeCount led the Sox in hitting. Expos - Reds The Expos won a thrilling come from behind victory over the Reds 11-10. Terry Miller and Eric Beer led the winners in hitting. The Reds were led by Jeff Meade and Mark Evans. Tigers - Sox The Sox scored eight runs in the second inning to easily defeat the Tigers 14-4 Ron Bjella was the winning pitcher. Ernie Morris collected three hits for the Sox. Kent Stichter had a triple for the Tigers. Cards - Tw ins The Cards remain the only undefeated Little League team with an easy 11-1 victory over the Twins Jim Salazar led the Cards with a home run and a double Jay Auer was the winning pitcher T-Ball Results Jon Haab, Randy Beer, Richard Padtke and Gilbert Castillo each scored three runs as the Cube easily defeated the A's in the T-ball game by the score of 22-10. Robbie Schmidt scored two runs for the A’s. Pirates-Braves Cathy Kinney smashed four hits, four RBl’s and scored three runs to lead the Pirates past the Braves 21-20. The Braves were led by Andrea Henson who collected four hits in a losing effort. Ann Collins hit a home run and knocked in four runs to lead the Phillies over the Mets. The Mets were led by Jill Haab who collected four hits. Final scores was Phillies 7, Mets 2. Dodgers - Mets Myra Ruch hit a single, double and a home run to lead the Dodgers to an easy 18-7 victory over the Mets. Sandra Hernandez scored two runs for the Mets. Milford - Syracuse The Milford girls’ elementary softball team defeated Syracuse last Saturday night 18-16. Ann Collins hit two home runs and Myra Ruch hit one home run for the winners. Syracuse was led by Gayle Swartz and Portia Price who each scored three runs. Milford - Syracuse Andrea Henson. Sonya Hoover, Brenda Skelton and Cathy Kinney scored 12 runs as Milford’s junior high girls’ softball team easily defeated Syracuse. Charlotte Tatman hit a triple for Syracuse. Claypool man wins horseshoe pitch contest Noah Adams of Claypool won the horseshoe contest at the Mermaid Festival last Saturday at 1 pm., A total of 12 entries participated in the round robin event which took place on the festival grounds Paul Caudill of Warsaw finished second and Bob Johnson, also of Warsaw, finished third. “Only by conservation in the fullest sense, of the basic resources of land, water, and the spirit of peoples, can we maintain the human values of wholesome standards of living, opportunity, freedom, justice, and faith in the destiny of modern civilization.” — W. Bad weather plagues the Hoss Hills club

Plagued by a day of bad weather, a few archery die-hards showed up at the Hoss Hills Bowmen, Inc., archery range on Sunday, June 15, for the schedule shoot. Braving the downpour, they forged ahead and completed the shoot. Men’s instinctive “A" class honors went to Mike Ginter, first place, and Curt Henderson, second place. No "B” class shooters were present. “C” class was captured by Don Womack with Coleman Taylor coming in second. Tom Womack placed third. Only a few sight shooters were

Medal Play is ladies play at Maxwelton The ladies of Maxwelton golf club had its “Medal Play” as the play of the day on Wednesday, June 18. The 18-hole winners were Marge Kavanaugh, first low gross; Mavis Vanderveer, second. Barbara Kay, third; LaVon Hawk, first low net; Gloria Stoffel, second; and June Auer, third; Dorothy Stiver and Betty Kline were first and second low putters respectively. In the nine-hole game winners were Polly Bonar, first low gross; Marge Yoder, low net; and Julie Rogers, low putter. Second round 18-hole winners in the handicap tournament were Muriel Callander, Doris Sedgwick, Gloria Stoffel, Marge Kavanaugh and Dot Stiver. First round nine-hole handicap winners are Bev Buletty and Jo Butler. Second round winners are Polly Bonar, Marge Yoder and Ces Freehill. The Maxwelton ladies were guests of Oak Hills, Elkhart municipal course on Tuesday, June 17. Others invited were Saint Joe Valley, Rozella Ford and Cedar Lake golfers.

The next regular shoot is scheduled for Sunday, July 6. Visitors welcome. On Sunday, July 13, Hoss Hills will sponsor a benefit shoot for the State Archery Museum, being located in “Clarksville,” near North Webster. The public is invited to attend and support the museum. Registration will commence at 10 a.m. on July 13.

Warsaw, Burket win water ball tourney

Warsaw won the men’s waterball contest last Sunday afternoon and the Ladies

Sailboat races at Wawasee A new fleet of sailboat racing has started in the community, according to a spokesman at That Sailboat Place in Syracuse, called "Laser” and defined as one man racers. Fleet 195 at Wawasee held a joint sailing regatta with an Indianapolis group over the week end with participants from all over the state. There were 21 boats in all with two races held in the morning and two in the afternoon, the fourth being stopped when a buoy was lost. Winning first was Buzz Levinson of Indianapolis and second went to Mike Kinghorn of Indianapolis. Hosts were Buzz and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rankin of Syracuse. Luncheon was served at the Levinson summer home on the lake.

Powderpuffs Burket team II won the ladies competition. The contest was held at 2 p.m. cn the Mermaid Festival grounds at North Webster. Finishing second in the men’s competition were the firemen from Wolflake. Second in the women’s competition was the Burket team I.
