Maxwelton ladies start handicap tourney event
Women of the Maxwelton Indies Golf association were rained out for the last two Wednesdays and the time was taken up with meetings and workshops for the annual Land O'Lakes tournament Play for the 18 hole group will be on June 25 and the nine-hole on July 2. Victor Labra is second in 5-state wrestling tourney
Victor Labra of Syracuse placed second in the 132 pound weight class at the Five State Wrestling Tournament held in Indianapolis. Mote than 400 s wrestlers from Indiana. Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio participated on June 6 and 7 in the tourney which is sponsored annually by the Manual Dad's dub at Manual highschool, under the auspices of the AAU and USWF. Basketball tournament to beain on Friday at Webster
"Die annual Mermaid Festival independent basketball tournament will begin on Friday. June 20. at North Webster. Teams will play rain or shine. Participating will be the Legion team from post 258. Cosmic Light. BoardmanX’hevy. Living Gospel, Michiana Foods. Leslie Music. Mr. Happy Burger. Columbia City Tire Mart. Koontz and King Exc.. Augsburger’s. Aces and Wakarusa Pharmacy. Games will be at 7 on Friday when the Legion team post 258 and Cosmic Light will play and teams from Boardman Chevy and Living Gospel will play. Winners will clash at 8 p.m. on Saturday. At 8 p.m. on Friday Michiana foods will play*Leslie Music and Mr. Happy Burger will play Columbia City Tire Mart. The winners will play at 7:30 on Monday. At 7 p.m. on Saturday, still in the first round, Koontz and King Exc , will meet Augsburgers and Aces will meet the Wakarusa Pharmacy. Syracuse's Little League results given Syracuse Little League results for the majors show the following: Pilchers 10. Lions 3 Bank 16. Rotary 2 Bank 5. Lions 0 Major league games forthcoming include Lions vs Rotary at 6on June 20; Pilchers vs Bank, 6. June 23; and Pilchers vs Lions at 4:30 on June 27 with Bank and Rotary playing at 6:30. Minor league games coming are Rotary and Bank at 5:30 on June 19; Rotary vs Pilchers at 5, June 24, and Bank vs Lions, 6:30, June 24. T-Ball games forthcoming include Love vs Socks, 6 on June 18 and Klinks vs Thornburgs at 7; and Love vs Klinks at 6 on June 25 and Socks vs Thornburgs at 7. Four Games On July 5 there will be four games at Rotary field starting at noon with T-ball teams meeting in games with their mothers. At 2, the minor league all stars will play the fathers and coaches, and anyone else who is “over the hm." At 4:30. Rotary will face the Lions in a regular major league game followed by Pilchers and Bank in what could be a battle for first place in the league. The Syracuse Little League boosters will also hold a chicken barbecue on the same day. Driver loses control after car hits water Eric C. Gunderson. 21. Leesburg, lost control of his vehicle Saturday while driving on CR 650. N. two miles west of North Webster. Gunderson reported to Kosciusko county polite patrolman Tom Kitch that he lost control of the car after hitting deep water He then struck a utility pole resulting in SIOO damage and a fence at the residence of Charles Long. FIRST AID RESPONDS The Syracuse first aid emergency unit responded to a call at 6:50 p.m. Friday for Mrs. Marie LeCount. 80. r 3 Syracuse. Mrs. LeCount reported she fell in her yard and had a pain to the right hip. She was treated and taken to Goshen hospital for further examination.
