M Piter >74 Girls win over IRV, rains come On Wednesday the girls softball team from Wawasee high school defeated IRV by the score of 10-9. IRV is also in the Goshen league. The game was a practice game. The weather did not cooperate the remainder of the week, raining out both the Thursday practice game and the Sunday afternoon game. League games this week will be Wednesday at 6 p.m at Goshen. The field is located west of the high school football field. A new diamond has been built for the jprls’ softball league. Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m a league game will be played at
Shanklin diamond two in Goshen. The bus will leave Syracuse at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Girls are still welcome to try out. There are both A and B teams. Girls interested in playing should call John Replogle at Milford. Theft reports continue in Syracuse area Numerous tljeft reports continue in the Syracuse area, including more bicycles. During the past week, reports were received from Steve Berkey, r 1 Cromwell, for a lost license plate. 43C3304, from his 1965 Dodge; the theft of SSO from a cash drawer at the Standard Station in Syracuse and reported by C. Robert Heady of Wawasee Heights reported the theft of a side glass from a truck camper, bubble type, and clear in color; Leonard Smith reported an emission pump taken from his 1973 Omega; and Dave Egolf reported a car damaged while parked at the Texaco station. The car was owned by Larry Bloom of Claypool and was damaged by a sharp object plus a Z-28 and Camaro emblem being broken. Firecrackers A report was received from Wawasee Heights area Sunday evening of fire crackers being thrown about and the youths responsible were talked to. Mrs. Leßoy Sweatland of Syracuse reported to police around noon Sunday of a missing 24 foot pontoon, however, the boat was later found. No damage was listed in a onecar mishap at Syracuse around 9:30 Friday evening as Laveda Cook, r 2 Syracuse, missed the drive area in the area of Glon Furniture and ran into the grassy area between the roadways. Alert youth credited with saving his mother
