14 YEARS AGO. JUNE 8.1961 Raymond Lee Zimmerman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Zimmerman of Milford, was graduated from Wabash college June 4. at which time he received an AB degree. He is a member of Lambda Chi Alpha National Social Fraternity. Mrs. John B. Augsburger and Mrs. Ronald McGrain were injured Tuesday night in an auto accident when their car blew a tire causing it to spin around and hit a tree. JUNE 7,1945 A costly fire Friday morning destroyed the old Fisher homestead owned by Mrs. Maurice Duncan and occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Speicher and family. 44 miles west of Milford The fire was started by the explosion of kerosene in the hands of Charles Speicher, 12, who was trying to start a fire in the kitchen stove. The explosion severely burned Charles and started a rapidly spreading fire that consumed the house and contents despite heroic efforts of the family and neighbors. parents. A nine pound son, Marion Eugene, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Groves at the Goshen hospital on May 31. Mrs. Groves and infant son were removed to their home southeast of Milford Friday afternoon. Mrs. Groves’ sister-in-law, Mrs. Russell Chokey of Goshen, is assisting in the home. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chokey of Goshen and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Groves are the grandparents and Mrs. Chloe Groves is the great-grandmother. 40 YEARS AGO, JUNE 6.1935 The marriage of Miss Olga Longenecker. daughter of William Longenecker. to Harold Tusing, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Tusing of Hastings, occurred at the home of the bride’s grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. David Engle of Warsaw, at 4 p.m. Sunday. An informal reception followed the ceremony, the table for the bridal partybeing prettily decorated in white and green, a three-tiered wedding cake forming the centerpiece. Mrs. Eugene Scarlett was given a birthday surprise party Saturday evening by the families of Harry Gillis and Leonard Fray er of Nappanee. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Snyder entertained Mrs ; Ida Myers, Messrs and Mesdames Jenson. Darr. Geyer Deithrich, Joe Bushong and children of the above, at a wiener supper at their cottage at Syracuse Lake on Thursday evening.

Two from county on dean's list MUNCIE — Among 200 members of the junior class at Ball State university who are on the junior dean’s list, two from Kosciusko county have been named by Dr. Richard W. Mrs. Gladys Coy. a resident of Milford, will preside over the 32d annual national convention of the Mothers of World War 11. Inc., to be held in the Indy Inn and Tower on June 23-25. State Senator John F. Augsburger of Milford will be the speaker at the 32d annual banquet which will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the ball room. Mrs. Coy is currently serving as president of the national organization. The convention will open on Monday. June 23. at 9:30 a.m. with the mass presentation of officers. A reception will be held at 7:30 that evening in honor of Mrs. Coy and her corps of officers. The reception will be held in the ball room. A memorial service for deceased mothers will be held on Tuesday with the banquet in the evening. The new officers for 1976 will be installed on Wednesday. Vandals destroy kitchen cabinets Kosciusko county officers continue investigation into vandalism at the Lester Friend home near Weimer s Landing at North Webster, currently vacant due to remodeling, sometime last week. Some SSOO in damage was estimated to kitchen cabinets which were heavily damaged by a sledge hammer found in the house. Debra Plummer is graduate Miss Debra Sue Plummer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Plummer, r 3 box 511 Syracuse, was graduated from the 10-month secretarial program of International junior college at Fort Wayne on Friday. May 9. She was'active in the student senate, bowling and Phi Beta Lambda. Miss Plummer is a former student at Belleville East high school where she received awards in typing and from the National Junior Honor Society.
