Warriors advance in sectional tournament

By SANDY GERENCSER Bob Heady’s Warrior baseball team topped Goshen in its first game of the Goshen sectional last Monday, 2-1. The tribe played one of its best games of the year as it handed the Redskins their second loss in the eight year history of the sectional. Goshen was the defending champion. The win gave the tribe a record of 14-8. The game appeared to be a pitching contest between Mark Smith of Wawasee and Jim Lindhorn of Goshen. Smith struck our four and walked one. The first score of the game came in the fourth inning. Dale Ganz took first base after an error and moved to second as a result of a sacrifice by Jim Adams. But, Goshen bobbled the ball in the infield and Adams took first as Ganz went to third. A squeeze bunt by Doug Pollock was all Ganz needed to come home. The second run for Wawasee was scored in the sixth inning. Don Kinney singled and then took second when Gary Dean sacrificed. A single by Al Kitson
