Jay Boyer elected as vice president of Kiwanis
Dan Watson gave the invocation to open the May 5 meeting of Lakeland Kiwanis club. Jay Boyer was elected as vice president. Plans were announced for the “bike safety ch&k" that was held May 9 at North Webster, Syracuse and Milford. Dick Long Summer plans discussed by Church of God Summer activities were planned during the May 8 youth council meeting held at North Webster Church of God.

Hibschmans to be guests at Church of God The Jim Hibschman family, missionaries to the Philippine Islands, will be guest speakers at the May 21 family night services at North Webster Church of God. Mrs. Jack Rhoades gives lesson for Sechrist 65 Mrs. Jack Rhoades discussed “How to Give A Lesson" during the May 7 meeting of Sechrist 65 home extension club. The ladies met at the home of Mrs. Dan Conkling She was assisted by Mrs. Steve Williams. Mrs. Williams also read the meditation. Roll call response was “A summer meal my family enjoys." During the short business session, plans were discussed for a summer theater party. Reports were given by. Mrs. Luther Allen, garden; Mrs. Dave Everts, cultural arts; Mrs. Rhoades, citizenship; and Mrs. William Shoemaker, health and safety. The next meeting will be held June 4 at the home of Mrs. Shoemaker. Plans will be made for next year’s club schedule and new officers will be installed Charm 'N Chatter club has dinner meeting at Winona Charm *N Chatter Home Extension club members attended a dinner meeting held May 5 at the International Friendship House, Winona Lake. Retiring club officers were hosts for the event. New officers were installed. Searcher’s class plans banquet for graduates
The Searcher’s Sunday school class at North Webster Church of God is planning a senior youth banquet to be held at 7 p.m. May Barbee Ladies hold work day Barbee Ladies Christian Senice met May 9 at Barbee Community church Mrs. Osha Bragg led the lesson study "The Person of Jesus." A sack lunch was served at noon. Plans were made for the May 10 work day to be held at the church. A sunshine basket was prepared and plans were made for making lap robes. It was decided that the ladies group would furnish all paper products to be used in the kitchen area of the church. Mrs. Orpha Foster gave the closing prayer. Mother-daughter fellowship held by Brethren North Webster Church of the Brethren mother-daughter fellowship was held May 4. The church fellowship rooms were decorated in shades of pink and green and highlighted with floral arrangements. The the,me for the program and decorating scheme was "Pattern For Living For 1975" written by Mrs. Glenn Whitehead. Mrs. Paul Shrider asked the table grace A reading entitled “Instruction Sheet 1975 — Pattern Os Living." was read by Mrs. Preston Gregory. Musical numbers and piaylettes were presented by Mrs. Florence Shock. Mrs Joe Shock. Mrs. Dave Miller, AmyMiller, Mrs. Harry Miller, Mrs. Steve Richcreek, Mrs. Phil Mock, Mrs. Jim Rowe, Kay Rowe, Mrs. Joe Barrett, Holly Barrett, Angie Richcreek, Tammy Penn, Rhonda Rose and Robin Rose. The closing was given by Mrs. Merlin Cassell. Lady Lions are collecting books North Webster Lady Lions are collecting books to be used as part of a fund raising project scheduled for early this summer. Anyone wishing to donate books may contact Mrs. Therman Rinker or Mrs. Gary Eastlund. The books need not be new. Prayer breakfast held at church A men’s prayer breakfast was held May 11 at North Webster Church of God. The food was prepared by Bob Likens, Sam Lundy. Dave Carey and Steve Williams. Firemen's Auxiliary discuss plans for coming events Members of North Webster Fireman’s Auxiliary met May 5 at the fire station. During the business session plans were discussed for the family portrait fund raising project scheduled for June. Letters were written to area auxiliary members to recruit participants for the ladies water ball contest to be held at this year’s Mermaid Festival. Mrs. Terry Likens was accepted as a new member. Sue White served refreshments. Two to attend annual confab Bob Ritchie and Carrie Switzer will represent North Webster United Methodist church at the annual conference to be held this month. Senior Citizens 'fun and games' set for today Senior Citizens “Fun and Games’* activities are scheduled for today, May 14, at North Webster Church of God. Participants are asked to eat lunch before they come. Homemade ice cream will be served as refreshments. Table games and shuffle board will be enjoyed. Mary Circle plans banquet Mrs. Larry Teghtmeyer served refreshments at the May 8 meeting of Mary Circle of North Webster United Methodist church. During the business session plans were discussed for a money making project and the preparation of dessert salads for the mother-daughter banquet. Most of the day was spent cleaning a cottage at Epworth Forest camp. Mrs. Bea Shaffer prepared lunch for the group.

Barbee Hoosier dub has carry-in Members of Barbee Hoosier club met May 7 at Barbee Conservation club building. Approximately 20 members attended the business meeting and carry-in dinner. A flower seed exchange was held and plans were discussed for summer fund raising activities. Mrs. Ermal Vanator was a guest. Mrs. Rue Hunnicut and Mrs. Margaret Welker were in charge of dinner arrangements. The afternoon was spent playing games. The June meeting will be held at Barbee Conservation club building. Mrs. Robert Phend is hostess for Monroe Hilltoppers Mrs. Robert Phend was hostess for the May 7 meeting of Monroe Hilltoppers home extension club. She was assisted by Mrs. John Hawkins. The meditation, about mothers, was given by Mrs. Tom Hicks. Roll call response was “Your Mother’s Favorite Advice.” Mrs. William Engleberth gave a lesson entitled “Recycling Clothing." It was announced that a special event is being planned for July. A group discussion was held concerning health and safety. Mrs. Chester Gerard talked about the county historical tour. Marriage Enrichment Week End to be held at Oakwood Park
Dr. Carl Clark will be in charge of the "Marriage Enrichment Week End” to be held May 16 through May 18 at Oakwood Park. Registration will be limited to 30 couples. Reservations or more information may be obtained from Junior high youth to go to Quaker Haven North Webster Church of God junior high camp retreat will be held May 30-31 at Quaker Haven camp, Dewart Lake.
