Warriors runners-up in relay
By SANDY GERENCSER The Wawasee track team placed second to Manchester in the Tippecanoe relays last Saturday. Manchester took the championship with 104 points while Wawasee came very close with 97 points. Remaining team scores were Tippecanoe Valley 714, Argos 50, Caston 39‘ 2 . Whitko 31, Northfield 27 and Culver 14. The Warriors, who had beaten Manchester in the conference meet and also the Concord and Rochester relays, were possibly thrown for a loss as some senior team members were lost to the senior banquet the same evening Award For Wollman Highlighting the tribe s evening, however, was the winning of the outstanding athlete award by senior Dave Wollman He was a member of the winning discus, shot put and long jump relay teams Wawasee was still in the bid for the championship until the mile and novelty relays Finishing behind Manchester in both

The tribe was really on the ball in the third inning as it pulled a triple play. Pitcher Vince Rhodes caught a hit and the alert Warriors caught runners off at first and second. Competitive swimming practice to begin Practice will begin on Monday, May 19. at 3:30 p.m. for competitive swimmers. It will be held at the Wawasee high school pool and will last for one hour. Any boy or girl who is interested in competitive swimming should be present at the first practice. They should be ready to swim as there is a need to prepare for summer competition which begins in June. All additional information will be available at the first practice. Persons who cannot attend should call the school to sign up. Information is also available at the school on registration fees, etc. More sports news on page 8 Worn license plates will be replaced Commissioner Ralph W. Van Natta of the bureau of motor vehicles announced recently motorists who have new license plates on which the paint has worn off may trade them in for new plates. Owners of faded plates will receive free replacement plates if they take the plate in to any local license branch "We have had a problem wiui some shipments of the plates this year in that the paint wears off during normal use. PLAN NOAH’S ARK DAY — Members of the Milford Christian church are in the process of planning a Noah's Ark Day to be held on Sunday. June 8. on the church grounds. Many pairs of animals will be on display on that day for the youngsters to be viewed and adults and teenagers will be dressed as Noah and members of his family to tell the Bible story. Damage is heavy in early morning fire, home saved
An alarm at 12:50 a.m. Tuesday brought Syracuse firemen to a call about 10 miles east of Syracuse at the Robert Gibson home on Noble countv road 300 N. however, the fire which was raging, had alreadyleveled a storage building and the Cromwell fire department was battling the fire. Ligonier firemen were also called to the scene Water sprayed on the Gibson home saved the structure, however, a dumber of windows were broken out. the Hatchery branch of the State Bank of Syracuse, turned in the alarm. The alarm had sounded at the bank as flames had burned telephone and electrical lines causing the malfunction, and the Gibsons were left without service or away to call for assistance. Initial damage estimates of the fire were set at SIO.OOO-$12,000. People are honest when trust is placed in them by someone they admire.
