Orchestra, choral departments to present 'Spring Review'
The Wawasee orchestra and choral departments will present their annual Spring Review on May 9 at 7'30 p m The frogram hosts an excellent selection of student talent At 7 10 pm. before-the concert- Rick Moore will be playing a 2D-minute prelude of pop tunes on the organ Featured will be songs from famous musicals, hits from the ‘Big Band” days, a selection from the opera “Mana Stuarda” and pop tunes Also-included will be the "Wawasee Waltz." a song written by a local resident. Will Lorry Stidham is named as junior marshal Larry Stidham, a junior at Ball State university, has been notified by the president of the diversity, he has been named to be a junior marshal for the 1975 graduating seniors This is an honor bestowed upon 25 members of the junior class They are chosen on the basis of scholarship and citizenship while attending the university. A student must also achieve a 3.8 grade cumulative to qualify The honored members will be attired m the crimson academicrobes of the university.' Larry is an active member of lambda Chi Alpha fraternity He is secretary of the organization He is also a member of the Pi Gamma Mu honor society This is a national social science honor society Larry, r 4 Syracuse, is majoring in pre-law and is planning to attend law school after graduating from Ball State. Wawasee crushes Columbia City
By SANDY GERENCSER The Warriorettes beat Columbia City last week, 61-44 in a meet at Columbia City. Wawasee took first place honors in eight events. Lorene Spearman and Barb Yoder were first and second in both the 100 and 220 dashes. Teresa Wiegand and Rhonda Byrd were first and third respectively in the 80 yard hurdles. Jenny Boyer won the mile run. In the 440 Kelley Hamman took first while Terri Holtzclaw placed third. ? Roxana Auer and Benji Hall won first and second respectively
Warriors stopped by Panthers
By SANDY GERENCSER Jerry Minton's Warrior track team lost to conference leader North Wood last Monday in a triangular with Bremen at NorthWood. The Warriors and Panthers met with their respective NLC records of 5-1 and 6-0. North Wood took the meet with 82 points while Wawasee had 72 and Bremen notched five. Dave Wollman was a triple winner for the Warriors as he took first in the discus, shot put and long jump. Denny Spearman was a double winner as he won the high and low hurdles. Chad Singrey took top honors in the high jump. Wawasee completely swept the shot put. Winners were Dave Wollman, first; Brian Lemberg, second; Mitch Ousley, third; and Jerry Rhodes, fourth. Distance 150’ Summer program set for youngsters The Lakeland Youth Center at Syracuse is sponsoring a summer recreation program for children in grades K thru 5 with 1-3:30 on Fridays set aside for this program, which starts on June 6. , Children will receive instructions in crafts, put on plays, take part in games and be provided with refreshments, all in a supervised atmosphere with emphasis on having fun. All activities will take place at the Syracuse city park with youth center director Dan Caskey in charge. Youths may take part in all eight weeks of activities or in just one week Room 4-U 4-H club meets in Baumle home By MARY BAUMLE The April meeting of the Room 4-U 4-H club of North Webster was April 22 in the home of Mary and Martha Baumle. Sonja Long and Jackie Rampy led the pledges to the flags. Lynn Haney, president, conducted the business meeting. Mrs. Greider gave information concerning new projects. The health and safety lesson on shock was given by Lisa Grisso Demonstrations were given by Mary Baumle, Martha Baumle. Lisa Grisso and Jennifer Northrup. Fifteen members and two guests — Lori Sliger and Kandi Mort, were present. The next meeting will be in the home of Kim Snvder.

Students compete in special Olympics event ;
Eighteen students in the Milford. Syracuse and North Webster schools won ribbons at the special Olympics event held in Warsaw in April and will take part in the regional in May. Kent Elliott took first in the 50yard dash and softball throw; Donnie Kauffman took first in standing broad jump, second in the 50-yard dash and third in softball throw; and Ed Burchard took first in standing broad jump, and second in the 50-yard dash and softball throw. Todd Baker took first in the softball throw and third in broad jump. Randy Peterson placed first in softball and 50-yard dash, and second in broad jump. Jeff Miller had a first in the dash and second in the jump. Ray Skelton placed third in both the dash and jump. Becky Stouder had seconds in the softball throw and broad jump. Tom Wollman took a third in the 50-yard dash and fourth in Graduates from Ball State U. Carl Hadley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hadley of Syracuse, has graduated from Ball State university with a bachelor of science degree in business. He is now employed with North American Van Lines at Fort Wayne and residing at Cambridge Square apartments there. Carl is a 1971 graduate of Wawasee high school.

Sunshine Blue Birds attend story hour The Sunshine Blue Birds met at the Scout Cabin on April 30 with 21 members in attendance. Ten members attended the story hour at the library and 12 members worked on art and workbooks at the cabin. Refreshments were served by Lila Certain. Joy Karesh, Heidi Stewart and Cathy Heath. Eighteen Sunshine Blue Birds helped at the city park on April 26 for clean-up day with four leaders, Mrs. Don Lovelette, Mrs. Tom Ogden. Mrs. W’illiam Wilson, and Mrs. Lowell Welty, supervising and furnishing refreshments for the girls. The girls are meeting today(Wednesday) to start working on presents for Mother’s Day.
