Young Warriors win invitational By SANDY GERENCSER The freshman and sophomore members of the Wawasee track team competed in the Tippecanoe Valley Invitational last week. They brought back top honors as they pounded all rivals. Team scores were Wawasee ill. Rochester 82. Tippecanoe 64. Bremen 63., North Miami 50, Manchester 46. Culver 26 and Whitko 23. Rick Bauman was a double winner as he stole first in both the low and high hurdles. Mitch Ousley won the shot put. Dan Walker took honors in the 440 while Tim Hamman won the 880 for the tribe. Keith Cripe topped his opponents in the pole vault. Mike Ousley notched first in the high jump. Kevin Gilbert placed second in the two mile run. Wawasee topped in Bth inning By SANDY GERENCSER The Warrior baseball team was defeated by East Noble in an extra inning last Friday. 2-0, in a home game The pitching game was quite close in the first seven innings. Winning pitcher Don Fee allowed the Warriors seven hits while the tribe's Mark Smith gave up only five. The Warriors had several opportunities to take the win but just couldn't get the runs over home plate. They had two men on base in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings with just one out; however, they couldn't bring any of them in. By the end of the game, East Noble had left six men on base while Wawasee left nine stranded. In the top of the eighth, Mark Smith surrendered a single and hit a batter These two base runners were that sent to second and third bases by a fielder’s choice. Smith intentionallyloaded the bases and then Jim Norris took his turn at bat. NWrts was good for a two run single tfcat took the win for East Noble. JV blasts ft Warsaw By SANDY GERENCSER Jerry Lambert’s boys defeated Warsaw last Tuesday 14-11 on the Warrior diamond. Stan Kroh sparked the team as he was 2-4 from the plate and brought in two RBl’s. Bruce Cooper hit in a pair of runs also The team sent eight men around the bases in a fantastic fourth inning. Wawasee hosts the Prep today (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. Baseball Boosters to meet at Milford Garry Sorensen, president of the Milford Baseball Boosters club, announces that there will be a meeting next Tuesday evening. May 6. at 7:30 in the Milford junior high cafeteria. All parents, club members and persons interested in the summer baseball program are urged to attend this meeting On the agenda will be the club's project for the Memorial Day activities this year.

Warriors smash Northfield 6-1
By SANDY GERENCSER Bob Heady's baseball team knocked-off Northfield 6-1 last Tuesday at Northfield. Brothers Mark and Bryan Smith were the stars for the evening. Mark wallopped two home runs and was responsible for three RBl's. Bryan was the winning pitcher as he gave up only two hits and one unearned run in four innings of play.
South Shore men have opening season event
The South Shore Men's Golf association opening breakfast and tournament was held on April 20 with 60 participating. Format for the tournament play was a 2-man best ball with full handicap. Results were. Scores were — Wawasee 79. Memorial 44 and Manchester 11. Tammy Schumn qualified for sectional in the high jump. The girls won first in 10 of the 13 events. Also in the fourth came Northfield's only run. It came about after Bryan hit a batter, tossed a wild pitch and let a double bring in one runner.

Low Medalist Golfers trounce Northridge By SANDY GERENCSER Rudy Cesco's Warrior golf team up-ended the Northridge Raiders last Thursday as it beat them 157-175 at the South Shore course All five of the Warriors out-did the Raiders’ low medalist. Rob Zurcher led the attack with a 37 to take low medalist honors for the day. Jon Owens added a 38 to the winning effort while Phil Randall, Sam Ludwig and Bb Johnson each chipped in a 41. The junior varsity won 163-192 with Gary' Miller shooting a 38 to spark the team. Varsity scores: Wawasee — Rob Zurcher 37, Jon Owens 38, Phil Randall 41, Bob Johnson 41. Sam Ludwig 41. South Shore ladies hold opening breakfast event
The South Shore Golf club Ladies association held its kickoff breakfast Sunday morning in the clubhouse dining room. Following a buffet breakfast, programs were given for the summer schedule. Officers for the season are: President — Joan Gray Vice president — Eleanor Moots Secretary-treasurer — Jackie Wortinger Special events chairman are: Tournament, Susie Hulley; hostess, Jean Gotshall; handicap, Ruth Banta and Pearl Herrmann; special event, Sandy Walgamuth; prizes, the officers.
Warriorettes sport first loss
By SANDY GERENCSER Marcia Carpenter's girl’s track team was defeated for the first time since the establishment of the team four years ago. Wawasee was beaten by Penn 5451 last Thursday in a big meet at Penn In spite of the loss, two more girls qualified for sectional competition, bringing the team’s total to 14 events for sectional. Dave Wollman was an individual champion as he won the discus with a throw of 153 feet 6 inches He also took second in the shot put. The three relay teams all finished third. The 440 team was made up of Steve Kroh, Dan Walker. Steve Cromer and Rick Dahlstrom Members of the 880 team were Dan Walker, Steve Cromer, Rick Dahlstrom and Rick Bauman. The sprint medley team was composed of Chad Singrey. Steve Cromer, Steve Kroh and Dan Walker. Joel Popenfoose came in fourth in the 440 low hurdles DennySpearman took third in the lowhurdles and fifth in the highs.
