A baby buggy full of buttons (how’s that for an alliteration?), is what is found as one enters My Store in Pickwick Place. Anyone missing a button and wanting to find one to match can almost certainly find it among this lot. An interesting question: How marly buttons in that buggy, anyway? Watch My Store owner Phil Oppenheim latch on this for a store contest. 'Handful' attends public meeting relative to water Only 40 persons were in attendance last Wednesday night at a meeting in the Syracuse school at which time town board members and several representatives relative to new water service to the three areas now annexed to the town of Syracuse, were in attendance to explain conditions to homeowners and commercial users The meeting was called in an effort to determine how many newly annexed persons desired a hook-on to the town water system, and to explain the proposed project and costs. Jerry Lessig, town engineer, and Herschel Umbaugh. a rate consultant, were in attendance to answer numerous questions, as was town attorney Robert Reed. Approximate cost of laying new lines in the town areas presently not serviced could run about $313,900. Yet still another decision must be reached, that of charges for the users, metering or monthly rates. February 28 has been set by town board members as the deadline for persons wanting water service to stop at town hall and sign for same. A sewage project with expansion has been estimated by Umbaugh at a cost of $522,000, and a tentative $5.40 monthly sewage charge to users was proposed. Annexed users could pay an additional monthly surcharge of over $3, and an additional hook on fee would. be established persons not hooking on at the time lines pass by their property More information should be available following the February--28 deadline Misses animal and hits pole Peter V.
