OBITUARIES
Mrs. Mary Hollar Mrs. Mary Belle Hollar, 81, former Milford resident, passed away Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw. She had been a patient in the hospital for several days preceding her death. Mrs. Hollar was born on October 19, 1893 near Hastings to William and Blanche (Kinney) Haney. She was united in marriage to Mace Hollar on November 22, 1910 and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1968. Mrs. Hollar was a member of the Milford First Brethren church, the Women s Missionary society of the church, the Busy Bees Homemakers club, and a resident of the Milford area for 35 years before moving to the Grace Village Manor at Winona Lake in October of 1974. Survivors include one son, Floyd Hollar, r 3 Warsaw; one daughter. Mrs Harold (Esther) Gawthrop, r 1 Etna Green; six grandchildrens nine greatgrandchildren; one brother. Rev. Charles L. Haney, Culver. She was preceded in death by one son. Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday* with interment in the Leesburg cemetery Mrs. Susie Fraiier Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m Monday for Mrs. Susie Frasier. 83. r 1 Nappanee, a former Milford resident Death came at 2:40 a m Saturday. Feb. 8. at her home, four and one half miles east of Nappanee Mrs Frazier had been in failing health for the past year Mrs Frazier was bom on September 30. 1891 near Milford

to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Miller. She was united in marriage to Irvin Hall on November 16, 1907 and he preceded her in death on October 7, 1958. On May 16. 1964 she was united in marriage to Jesse Frazier and he survives. She was a resident of the Wakarusa and Gravelton areas most of her life and was a member of the Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren at Gravelton. Surviving with the husband is one son. Everett Hall, r 1 Nappanee; 15 grandchildren: nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Dale Frazier, r 1 Nappanee and Cleo Frazier, Goshen; one stepdaughter. Mrs. Ivy Detwiler, Syracuse; nine stepgrandchildren; 14 stepgreatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, four brothers and two sisters. Rev. Clarence B. Fike officiated for the services and interment was in the Union Center cemetery. Mrs. Edith Todd Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) for Mrs. Edith Todd, 80, r 1 Cromwell and mother of Mrs. Helene Adair formerly of Syracuse. Death came Sunday evening at Goshen hospital. She had been in failing health for sometime Bom at Battleground on March 28. 1894, she is survived by Mrs Adair, with whom she made< her home, and two grandi children. ) Interment was in Sparip cemetery at Kimmell. Mrs. Merrill Norris Funeral services were held last week at Elwood for Mrs. Genevieve Norris, 59, r 4 Syracuse. Death came at 12:30 a m on Thursday at her home and was due to complications following a lengthy illness. Mrs Norns was bom January 7.1916 at Elwood and lived in the Syracuse area since the early 1950’5. Survivors include the husband. Merrill Norris, owner-opera tor of Merrill's lounge at Syracuse
Mrs. Millard Eppert Mrs. Millard (Virginia) Eppert, 42, of r 2 Syracuse passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, at 12:15 a.m. in her home. She had been ill with the flu but death was inexpected Mrs. Eppert was born November 7, 1928 to Walter and Severa “Laura" (Jarrett) Ritter of Milford. She had resided in Syracuse most of her life. She married Millard Eppert and he survives. Also surviving is the mother; a son. Billie Harrington, Jr., Syracuse; three daughters. Mrs. Danny (Linda) Jones. Syracuse. Tracy and Stacy, at home; and a brother, Walter Ritter, Milford. Funeral services were held Tuesday. Feb. 11. Rev. James Alt, pastor of the Milford United Methodist church, officiated. Interment was in the Soloman Creek cemetery. Mrs. John Sparling Services were held Saturday in lowa for Mrs. Anna Sparling. 91. formerly of r 4 Syracuse. Death came on Thursday at Miller's Merry Manor in Warsaw. She had been in failing health for several years. Mrs. Sparling was born December 15. 1883 and lived in the Syracuse community for 30 years. She was a member of Saint Martin DePorres Catholic church. Her husband, John Sparling, preceded her in death March 29. 1974. The only survivors are several sisters who reside in lowa. Interment was at Sioux City. Kenneth W. Ginger Services were held last week for Kenneth W. Ginger. 71, South Whitley and father of Leland Ginger of Syracuse. Death came on Wednesday afternoon at his home. A veteran of World War 11, he was born in Huntington county on July 19,1903, a son of William and Iva (Compton) Ginger. Mr. Ginger was a member of the VFW post at South Whitley and the Cleveland township conservation club. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Interment was in South Whitley cemetery Ray Werner Ray Werner. Knox, father of Mrs. Steve Replogle of Milford, passed away Sunday. Feb. 9, at the Bluffton Clinic. Death was caused by cancer after an illness of a few months. Mr. Werner was a resident of Knox all his life. Survivors include his widow, Irene; his mother; the daughter of Milford and two other daughters. Miss Roberta Werner, Knox, and Mrs. Gene Mclntire, Knox; two grandsons; and one granddaughter. Services were conducted at 1 p.m today (Wednesday).
Mrs. Frederick Hughes Services will be held Thursday for Mrs. Ida May Hughes, 89, of r 1 Warsaw and mother of Mrs. Mary Martha Myers of Syracuse. Death came at 6:15 Tuesday night at the Alfran nursing home, Warsaw, and was due to complications following an illness of three months. She was born at Alexandria on August 20,1885 and resided in the Warsaw area for 24 years, moving from New Castle. Her marriage to Frederick Hughes took place October 14.1914 and he preceded her in death in 1968. Mrs. Hughes was a housewife and member of the Muncie Presbyterian church. In addition to the Syracuse daughter, she is survived by three sons. Robert of r 1 Warsaw, Fred, Houston, Texas, and Kenneth Dwyer, Huntington, Calif.; one other daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Velma) Brown. Pacific Grove, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harris-Troxel funeral home. North Webster, with Rev. Andrew Hardie officiating. Interment will be in North Webster cemetery. Mock addition. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 today (Wednesday). Births CLARK, Neal Alan Mr. and Mrs. Larry A. Clark of Converse are the parents of their first child, a five pound, six and one-half ounce son, Neal Alan, born on January 28 in the Marion hospital. The newborn measured 19 inches long, and was born on his grandmother Shock’s birthday. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe P. Shock of North Webster Mr. and Mrs. Clinton A. Clark, Delphi, are the paternal grandparents. Great-grandparents are Mrs. Hurless Nine, Mrs. Mary Morgan, both of Warsaw, Mrs. Elmo Shock, North Webster, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Metzger of Delphi, and Mrs. Carrie Norris, Michigan Town. ELLIOTT. Jason Edward Mr. and Mrs. George Elliott of Milford are the parents of their first child, a son, Jason Edward, bom Monday, Feb. 3. at Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw. Jason was born at 11:38 a.m. when he tipped the scales at 10 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 22 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Dove of Milford and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James Elliott of Leesburg. Paternal greatgrandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Elliott of Kentucky. CO RM ANY. was admitted to the Whitley County hospital over the week end. W. D. Elder, son-in-law of Mrs. Lillian Custer, remains a patient in an Atlanta. Ga.. hospital where he underwent surgery recently. His address is W. D. Elder, 4670 Navajo Circle, College Park, Ga. 30349. Mrs. Clinton (Bessie) Bushong is now at Heritage House rest home, 1207 North Red Bud road, Buchanan, Mich., 49107 and would be glad to hear from her many friends in the Lakeland area. Mrs. Forrest Plank of Syracuse has been released from Elkhart hospital where she had been a heart patient for three weeks. Gene Lawson of the Syracuse and North Webster areas is reported as progressing following emergency surgery at Goshen hospital on February 1. Nirs. Hubert Anglemeyer of Syracuse Lake underwent major surgery last week at Goshen hospital and is recuperating satisfactorily. Mrs. Harold Hughes of r 4 Syracuse was dismissed from the Elkhart hospital last week. She inderwent back surgery.

TRAIN WRECK — These photos show two scenes of the 28 car Penn Central derailment in Ligonier last Sunday afternoon. There were no injuries to any of the five crewmen onboard the 85car freight. Tracks were blocked by the wreckage with cars, wheels, rails and ties scattered along both sides of the right of way. The train was westbound from Fort Wayne to Elkhart at the time of the accident. The cause of the derailment is not known at this time.
