Small groups being formed at UM church

Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Walker and Agnes Dauthitt were in charge of the discussion held recently at North Webster United Methodist church to promote the formation of small groups. Members wishing to join a / group interested in creating new caring ministries should meet February 17 with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hartle. The study of contemporary Clair Shultz is speaker Cair ShulU. who served in the mission field for 25 years and is now on the missions board at Anderson, was guest speaker at the family night program held February 12 at North Webster Church of God. Scouts hold Pine Wood Derby North Webster Cub Scouts and Weblos participated in the annual Pine Wood Derby held recently at Camelot Hall. First place winner was Brian Walls Jeff Rampy placed second and Scott Badskey was third. The award for the best decorated car went to Joel Rhoades. Travis Harris received the award for the most unusual design Kiwanis club honors ministers Dr. Richard Jergens, Fort Wayne, was guest speaker at the February 3 breakfast meeting of Lakeland Kiwanis club. He showed pictures and discussed the five weeks he served as a volunteer at a mission hospital in Rhodesia. Jerry Badskey announced that the week of February 3 through February 8 has been set aside to honor all ministers of the gospel, both active and retired. The seven ministers in attendance at the Kiwanis meeting were recognized Art Osborn announced that the hobby show committee meeting has been postponed until a later date. Happy birthday was sung to Kiwanis president Pat McCarty. A letter was read from Otto Fultz. n John Shidler and Jack Churchill were guests.

Mrs. Bill Stofer entertains the Melody club Mrs. Bill Stofer was hostess for the February 4 meeting of Melody Homemakers home extension club. Mrs. Mary Leiter assisted the hostess. The meeting time was spent displaying and demonstrating craft and hobby projects Refreshments were served during the social hour. The serving table was decorated in keeping with a Valentine theme. Mrs. Lymen Wilson will be hostess for the March meeting. Ralph Haynes gives report to UM church Ralph Haynes reported on "Operation Disaster" during Sunday evening services held February 9 at North Webster United Methodist church. The “Operation Disaster" program was organized by the Indiana Area of the United Methodist church. Mr. Haynes told of his experiences while working with a group of laymen in the town’s of Jocmel, Cag Jocmel and Maregot, Haiti, following the destruction caused by Hurricane Inez Life memberships presented to two Webster women Pauline White and Leona Culver were presented with “Life Memberships'* in the Women’s group at North Webster Church of God during the February 2 Sunday morning service. Donations were given toward mission work in honor of each woman. Games Senior Citizens presented to New games presented to the senior citizens group at North Webster Church of God will be the highlight of activities during a party to be held February 26 from 12:30 till 3:30 p.m.

Mrs. Ruth Butler hostess for the Barbee Hoosiers

Mrs. Ruth Butler, president, was in charge of the February 5 meeting of Barbee Hoosier club. Mrs. Opal Esch read the minutes of the January meeting. 'Something Special' fellowship held A “Something Special” get acquainted fellowship was held February 9 at North Webster Church of God. The event wasjsponsored by the “Special Occasions” committee to welcome 15 new families into the church. Refreshments were served and a time of fellowship enjoyed.

The treasurer’s report was given by Violet Lawson. A carry-in dinner was served at noon. Mrs. Rex Lawson and Mrs. Harry Kilmer were chairmen for the dinner. Mrs. Mary Schang — treasurer. The lesson on “Program planning” was given by Mrs. Hunt. Eva Brunner presented the citizenship report and the cultural arts lesson was given by Helen Anderson. Mrs. McNabb read a report concerning hypertension. As a roll call response the ladies exchanged Valentines. Mrs. Sherry Brower will be hostess for the March meeting. Firemen's Auxiliary discusses projects Julia Galloway, vice president, presided over the February 3 meeting of North Webster Fireman’s Auxiliary. The meeting was held at the fire

station. Future money making projects were discussed, including ice cream socials. Mrs. Roger Linesetter served refreshments. The next meeting will be held March 3 at the North Webster fire station. Sacred music concert set A concert of sacred music will be presented February 16 at 7 p.m. at North Webster Church of God. The program will be given by “Three of His”, a singing group from Alexandria.

Sunshine class receives trophy The Sunday school class of Barbee Community church was awarded the roving attendance trophy during Sunday morning services on February 2. Class members received the trophy for having the most invited guests present at the recent church sponsored roller skating party. Rev. Bryce Foster is the class teacher. Robert Kimmel is president of the Sunshine class.
