County towns and cities have received their quarterly distribution of alcoholic beverage gallonage tax from the office of the state auditor with Syracuse receiving $522. 22 Mr. and Mrs. Robert Insley will be honored on February 14 by their children, Stanley and Jean, in observance of their 25th wedding anniversary The wedding of Miss Judy Marie Preston and Arthur E. Schreiner took place in the chapel of the First Methodist church at Fort Wayne on Saturday evening. Feb. 6. Mr. and Mrs. John Bowser, Miss Ethel Bowser, and Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Zollinger and two sons spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Snodgrass at Dowagiac. Mich. One of the area's meanest crimes took place in the Lakeland

area Monday night as Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kitson on rural route missed their two Border Collie dogs and found them the next morning in the front yard, each with a bullet in its body. Investigating officers said the dogs had been shot at another location and returned to the Kitson yard. 20 YEARS AGO. FEB. 17.1955 Local Lion Ray Frevert said this week that his German Shepherd dog “Beam” which he took four months ago to the leader dogs for the blind at Rochester, Mich., is now with a new master. Cadet C. R. Tuttle has been appointed to corporal in the infantry ROTC organization at Culver Military academy. Miss Donnabelle Roth of Goshen and Paul Eugene Stouder, Dewart Lake, married last Friday evening at the home of his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gray of Syracuse Lake will sail on February 20 for a three-month world tour. Herb and Marilyn Stummer rescued the Dallas Miller family dog from the sub-zero race waters last week. Corporal Patrick Finton is home on leave and will return to base camp at Cherry Point, N. C. 45 YEARS AGO. FEB. 29.1939 The WCTU met Tuesday with Mrs. L. N. Kitson and Mrs. W. C. Gants presided. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Richards, Mr and Mrs. Amos Gawthrop and Mr and Mrs Fred Self were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Snyder. O. V. Bartholomew of Dallas, Texas, spent several days last week with his sister, Mrs. M. Snobarger. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bowersox returned home Monday from 10 days at Logansport and the former underwent removal of his tonsils at an Indianapolis hospital. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Fisher have received announcement of the marriage of their son, Gerald, who is studying law at Bloomington, to Miss Bernice Tucker, a teacher at Bloomington, on January 31. Miss Lucy Bachman has been placed on the roll of students for the fifth grade, with work which gets “special mention.” Mental health workshop Feb. 19 The Kosciusko County Mental Health Association will hold the third meeting of a series of w’orkshops on the “One-To-One" program, a new volunteer project. The workshop will be held at the Five County Mental Health Clinic, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, and will last approximately two hours. The film “Who Did What to Whom?” will be completed at this meeting. The “One-To-One” program, consists of volunteers who care enough to befriend a person coming back in the community from a state mental hospital. It requires a little time, about two hours per week, and a listening ear. Anyone 18 or over that has a desire to be helpful and un-

Milford man cited County police patrolman Burdell Blackbum investigated a single vehicle crash at 3:20 Sunday morning, Feb. 2, on CR 13S0N, one-eighth of a mile west of Elkhart CR 35. Driver of the vehicle involved was Douglas E. Drake, 22, Milford. Drake reported to Blackbum that he looked down to change a tape on his tape player when the car ran off the road and struck a cement culvert. No injuries were reported with damage set at S9OO to the Drake auto and Drake was cited following the accident for operating a motor vehicle with an expired driver’s license.
