Friends and relatives are invited to attend open house at the Mount Tabor hall located one-half mile south and one mile east of Community Center on county road 850 N from 2:30 to 5 p.m. They have requested gifts be omitted. The couple was united in marriage on February 16. 1925 by Rev. Thermon Mott. Mrs. Brock is the former Edith Marquart of Milford. They are the parents of 12 children: Eleanor Caplinger of Mishawaka. Arthur Brock of Plymouth. Bonnie Lambert of South Bend. Thelma Scott of Syracuse, Argil Brock of Bourbon. Jean Artist of New Carlisle. Emilie Huffman of Bremen, Karen Schmucker of Etna Green. Ward Brock of South Amboy, N. J.. Judy Bobb of Plainfield. Res Brock of Noblesville and Max Brock of Manilla. They also have 29 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Members of the Albright United Methodist church of Bourbon, the couple is retired from farming. Children of the couple will be honoring them with a dinner.

Receive BPW award of 'Woman of the Year'

Mrs. Clarence (June) Harris was named "Woman of the Year” at the Goshen Business and Professional Women's dinner-meeting event last week and attended by 63 members and guests She is the mother of Charles Harns of Syracuse The Goshen club sponsors selection of a woman of the year who has given unselfishly of her time and efforts in service to others of the community. , Names of candidates are submitted by organizations and clubs for the honor and final selection is made by three community leaders In attendance for the event were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harris and daughter Ginger. A daughter, Mrs Henry (Jayne) Miller of Phoenix, Ariz., was unable to attend. Mrs. kferris resides at New Paris;’ with her brother and family, on the family farm. Contributions A graduate of Manchester college, she earned a degree for social work from Indiana diversity. Mrs Harris enlisted in the WAC during World War II and was stationed at Fort Custer. Following discharge from the service, she entered social work and became supervisor of the Family and Children's Service bureau at Fort Wayne. She later served as director of family counseling service at Richmond, and served several years as president of the Altrusa club there. Mrs Harris became director of The Window in Goshen in 1968 and has been instrumental in establishing small discussion groups for problem discussions. Mrs. Hoover hostess to Kappa Omicron chapter The Kappa Omicron chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority of Syracuse met recently in the home of Mrs Tom Hoover with nine members present. Mrs Richard Keim gave the treasurer's report. Mrs. Steve Crow of the ways and means committee reminded everyone of upcoming projects. It was decided that the sweetheart dinner will be held February 15 at the Holiday Inn in Warsaw The program chairman asked that each member turn in a list of references used in her program. Mrs Dennis Bjella made a motion that a donation from the baby of the year contest be made to the school for a slide. The members were reminded to write a short story or poem to be read for roll call on April 3. • Mrs. Crow and Mrs. Rodger Brown presented the program "Dance and Theatre Music” and "The Dance.” As a part of the program everyone played “name that tune,” with bubble gum given as prizes. Sunshine group meet£ at Syracuse The Sunshine Blue Birds met January 22 at the Scout Cabin in Syracuse. After refreshments, furnished by Jennifer Stetler, all 16 girls in attendance went to SmithWalbridge camp for a fun time of sledding and playing in a snow fort. During the meeting last Wednesday, and attended by 16 girls, discussion was held on different types of pets and each girl drew a picture of a pet to put into a pet scrapbook. Cookies were served by Tami Kern and helpers Lisa Bushong, Alane Flannigan, Tami Grawcock and Heidi Stewart.

Resler, Watrous vows exchanged in Honolulu

Prince of Peace Lutheran church in Honolulu, Hawaii, was the setting December 23 for the wedding of Carole Ann Resler and Harold Alden Watrous. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Norman Hammer in a 7:30 p.m. candlelight service. Miss Lois Resler, sister of the bride, and James Jonasson, both of Honolulu, were attendants to the couple. The sanctuary was decorated with a large Norfolk pine Christmas tree, poinsettias at the altar rail, a pair of seven branch candelabra and pew candles lighting the center aisle. In Hawaiian tradition the bride and bridegroom, both ih white, wore long maile leaf leis entwined with tiny, white pikake flowers. In keeping with the Christmas theme, the bride chose attire of forest green accented with white lace for the attendants and deep red roses with holly and baby's breath for her flowers A hair corsage of red roses and holly caught her floor length veil. The bridesmaid’s bouquet and hair corsage were similar to the bride’s. Special musical selections for ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED - Mr. and Mrs. Ren Clark of Milford have announced the engagement of their daughter. Jill, to Dennis Perrin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Perrin of Millersburg. Miss Clark is a l»7t graduate of Wawasee high school and is currently a senior at Ball Slate university. majoring in elementary education. Her fiance, a IS7I graduate of Fairfield high school, is assistant manager of Kaufman Oil Company in Goshen. No date has been set for the wedding.

Mrs. Jennie Watrous of Ledyard, Conn.; the bride’s aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Strouse of Indianapolis; and the bride’s aunt, Mrs. Don Miller and cousin, 'Mrs James Sisk of Warsaw. The bride received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in elementary education from Ball State university. She formerly resided in Warsaw and taught at Lincoln elementary school. Mr. Watrous graduated from Norwich Free Academy and received a degree in English from Barrington college in Barrington. R. I. The couple, now residing in Honolulu, will move to the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area next summer, where Mr. Watrous will enroll at Litt hem Theological Seminary. Rebecca Replogle on clean's list MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. — Rebecca Sue Replogle of r 1 Milford was among 122 Milligan college students named to the clean’s list for the fall semester of 1974 according to academic dean C. Robert Wetzel. Sixty-two students, including Miss Repiogle. are listed on the first dean's list, signifying they achieved a semester grade-point average between 3.75 and 4.0. An additional 60 students were named to the second dean’s list, having had an average between 3.5 and 3.749 Miss Replogle is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Replogle and is a member of the freshman class at Milligan.

Past Matrons meet in Murray home The Past Matrons club of Syracuse, chapter 283, Order of Eastern Star, was entertained Tuesday night in the home of Mrs. Robert Murray with Mrs. Larry Haviland and Miss Lindal Caldwell as co-host esses. Twelve members and one guest, Mrs. Cecil Grove, were in attendance. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Murray, after which a social hour followed. Evening prizes went to Mrs. Rebecca Kitson, Mrs. Everett Dunn and Mrs. Jackson Ridings. Refreshments were in keeping with the Valentine season.

Intermediate Moms meet in Cook home Mrs. Ross Cook was hostess for the Monday night meeting of the Intermediate Mothers club at Syracuse. There were 19 members in attendance. President Mrs. Robert Brown, conducted the business meeting at which time Mrs. James Stucky reported the club has given a book to the Syracuse library on floral arrangements, given in memory of former club member Mrs. Max Brower. Charles Harris presented the evening program on new laws regarding emergency ambulhnce service. Refreshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Frank Stefanski and Mrs. Charles Miller. Mrs. Robert Searfoss will be hostess for the February’ 17 meeting which will include the husbands.

Auxiliary discusses fund raising events American Legion Auxiliary unit 223, Syracuse, met last week at the Legion home. An informal meeting was held due to member illnesses and only a few in attendance. „ President Mrs. Bill Eyer read thank you notes from the Soldiers, and Sailors’ Home at Lafayette, the Soldiers’ Home at Marion and Indiana Girls school. The local unit sent Christmas gifts to those homes. The department is calling for all units to get membership quotas filled. The remainder of the evening was spent in discussing money raising projects for the year. With the purchase of a new Legion home, money and labor will be needed from all members. The second district meeting will be held at Delphi on February 12 at 10:30 a.m. LAKELAND LOCALS Larry Griffith of Syracuse has returned from a week of snowmobiling on Lake Williamson, north of Iron Bridge, Ontario, a trip taken with a number of Goshen men. FORMER RESIDENTS CELEBRATE — Mr. and Mrs. Harley Lindemuth will be honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner given by their son and daughter-in-law on February 9 in their mobile home at Edgewood Estate, 5330 Goshen road. Fort Wayne. The couple was married February 7,1925 by the Rev. John Plank of the Church of God in Fort Wayne. Mr. Lindemuth retired in 1964 from Weatherhead Company at Syracuse. The couple has one son, Marion, of Churubusco. They also have two granddaughters, Mrs. William (Bernice) Stanton of Ossian and Mrs. Maxine Johnson of Fort Wayne and one great-grandson.

Costa, Frederick exchange vows in Ohio church on Jan 25

Miss Nancy Ann Costa of 426 Carnahan avenue, Findlay, Ohio, became the bride of James A. Frederick, 1294 West Lincoln street, Findlay and son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer J. Frederick of 130 East Boston street, Syracuse, on Saturday, Jan. 25. Father Gilbert Lazette of Saint Michael’s church in Findlay officiated for the ceremony at 1:30 o’clock in the afternoon. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Costa, 431 Carnahan avenue, Findlay. Bridal selections were by Robert Rae at the organ. Organza And Lace The bride appeared in a gown of dacron polyester organza, empire styling, trimmed with sequined scalloped chantilace. The detachable sweeping chapel train was accented with a wide panel of similar lace. Her Cathedral veil of illusion was bordered in escalloped chantilace. completing the total look. Mrs. Dwayne Beach of Findlay served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Cinda Costa, sister of the bride, Miss Linda Taylor, friend of the bride, and Miss Lynda Bibler, also a friend of the tride, all of Findlay. They wore gowns of Quiana nylon empire waist ed and accented with oyster lace in heather tones of green and blue. Each carried baskets of straw flowers arranged specifically for the wedding by the bride’s mother. Dwayne Beach of Findlay and friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ushers and friends of the bridegroom were Richard Bell of Syracuse, Phil Helms, Findlay and Jerry McCullough of McComb, Ohio A reception followed in the K of C Hall at Findlay. Following a wedding trip to Florida, the couple is residing at 426 Carnahan avenue in Findlay.

The bride is a 1969 graduate of Findlay high school and attended Bowling Green State university. She is cashier-typist for Cooper Tire and Rubber company at Findlay, The bridegroom, a 1967 graduate of Syracuse high school and Findlay college in 1971 where he was affiliated with Theta Chi fraternity, is a tire analyst for Cooper Tire and Rubber company. Milford Girl Scout troop 225 meets By TAMMY RYMAN Milford Girl Scout troop 225 met Thursday with our leader, Mrs. Dallas Bjella. / Dawn Baker and Suezette Hunsberger earned a poster and a patch by selling over 100 boxes during the recent Girl Scout cookie campaign. Angie Hostetler and Tammy Ryman received a Girl Scout cookie time poster for selling over 75 boxes. Other girls in the troop selling were Greta Hurd, Shell Miller, Shelly McKibben, Trisha Mullins, Karyl Charlton, Tammy Jessop, Carolyn Bjella, Gina Hurd and Angie Wise. We are still working on the needlecraft, drawing and cook badges. Sometime this winter we are going to the Boy Scout cabin and stay overnight. '
