c&rectors. During this same time" he was associated with the furniture manufacturing company of Hermar Industries as a vice president. Mr. Barbieri is a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame wiversity and is the father of seven children and is presently on the board of directors far the Fort Wayne YMCA, southeast branch. He is past-president of the Fort Wayne Serra club. Mr. Barbieri and his family have a summer residence on Lake Wawasee and have known the Crosier priests and brothers for many years. Mr. and Mrs. Barbieri are Friends of the Prep’s Cross and Waves. Three Resigned Dr. Vincent Romeo, former executive vice president of Miles Laboratories, now livingin Tirol, Austria, Philip Cornelius, of Cornelius Printing in In-
dianapolis, and Frank Vite of B & F Realty in Elkhart resigned their positions on the board earlier to allow for fresher and more available lay leadership for the school. One of the first duties of the new board will be to name a new principal to replace Fr. Thomas Scheets. who resigned on January 17. Father Scheets was the educational leader of the Prep school during its early and most challenging years. Die new board of control faces difficulties familiar to all private education today: strengthening goals, increasing enrollment and eliciting financial support. Wawasee Preparatory is a four-year. - coed, collegepreparatory boarding high school, owned and operated by the Crosier Fathers and Brothers
and fully accredited by North Central Accrediting Association. Die Prep school, which began in 1967, was preceded by Our Lady of the Lake Seminary, which was operated by the Crosiers from 1947 for the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend. A total of 90 boys are enrolled at the present time in a facility which has a capacity far 140 students. Noll Hall, a separate coed dorm, was renovated four years ago to house 12 girls, but is now filled beyond capacity with 18 boarding coeds. The 108 Prep students are from the five-state area, with a few from more distant states and also currently from the foreign countries of Nicaragua, Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil, Rhodesia and Hong Kong. Approximately onefourth of the student body come from other Catholic religious backgrounds.
