Proper withholding tax is explained
Indiana taxpayers whose county of residence and-or county of principal work activity has changed since January 1, 1974, are reminded to notify their employers of such change by completing another WH-4, withholding authorization form. Donald H. Clark, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Revenue, reminded wage earners that their county adjusted gross income tax liabilities for 1974 are determined by the county of residence or county of principal business or work activity on January 1, 1975. The determination on that date is effective for the entire year’s county tax liability. In order to insure that proper withholding is being made and to avoid potential penalties for significant underpayment of a county adjusted gross income tax liability, taxpayers should be sure to notify their employers if any change in county of residence or county of principal business or employment had been made since January 1, 1974. Commissioner Clark added that new WH-4 authorization forms must be filled out if the Driver falls asleep car rolls over Douglas Johnson. 23, r 1 Milford, fell asleep Saturday evening while driving along US 6 near Nappanee at 11:45 p.m. with the Johnson auto leaving the road and rolling over. Sheriffs Ptl. Michael Marcinkowski investigated setting damage at $2,000. Johnson reportedly was eastbound when he fell asleep and his 1972 Pontiac failed to negotiate a curve. The car left the road striking a sign post and rolling over on its top. Johnson suffered a laceration to the right eye at the time of the accident. LAKELAND LOCAL Master Shaun Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Fisher of r 2 Leesburg, spent Christmas vacation with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Fisher, residents of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., during the winter months.
number of a taxpayer’s exemptions decrease. In most cases of this type, the revised WH-4 must be filed within 10 days; however, in the event of the death of a dependent, a new form need not be filed until December 31 of the year in which the death occurred, the commissioner explained. Driver ticketed following crash A Nappanee driver, Melvin Slabaugh. 28, was cited for having no safety inspection sticker, following a two-c,ar crash Saturday at 6:25 p.m. at Indiana 13 and county road 1200 north near the bowling alley at Syracuse. He reportedly pulled onto the state road without seeing a northbound 1971 Ford driven by Robert L. Miller, 27. of Goshen, and hit the Miller auto in the side. Damage to the Goshen car was set at S9OO with S2OO to the Slabaugh 1974 Plymouth. Syracuse police investigated. Milford-Syracuse drivers collide A collision at the intersection of SR 15 and CR 250 N. near the US 30 bypass, involved autos operated by Jack E. Dean. 33. r 2 Milford, and Samuel Swedarsky, 69. 224 East Boston St., Syracuse. The collision occurred at 7:12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. County police patrolman Burdell Blackburn investigated setting damage at S6OO to the Dean auto and S7OO to the Swedarsky auto.
