LONG AWAITED CHECK — Township trustee Maurice Beer of Van Buren township, center, is she wn as be presents a check from the township for 83,989 to the Milford emergency vehicle fund. The presentation was Beer’s last official act as trustee. Beer and the advisory board members sorted legal work some months ago to release the *3.000 so it could be used by the emergency technicians for needed equipment. The money was excess funds from the fire truck which Was purchased by the township in November of 1971. Town board — (Continued from pagel) expire on December 31, 1975. Knispel will also be a representative to the scout cabin board. Remain One Short No appointment was made to fill the seat needed for a fifth member of the town board. Two orctnances, 74-22 and 7423, were passed for transferring of funds and additional funds needed. A brief discussion was held on setting age limitation for town employees, however, no decision was reached. Attorney Reed was authorized to advertise specifications for a new town police car. It was noted 525 was collected from the sale of an unclaimed three-speed bicycle at the police department, with other unclaimed items to be sold. * Representatives of Lakeland Sanitation were in attendance desiring information needed to bid on garbage pickup at Syracuse. They were instructed
to contact the town attorney on specifications. Renner Sanitation of Ligonier now has the contract for town service. Salaries and benefits of town officials and employees for the 1975 year will be considered at the next regular town board of trustees meeting on January 7. town hall, 7:30 p.m. No injuries in mishap No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision at 4:55 p.m. Friday near Pickwick road on state road 13 in Syracuse. State officers investigated and reported Mark A. Koble, 17, of Syracuse was apparently turning north onto the state road from the access road at the time of the mishap. Damage to the auto which he was driving was listed at S6OO. Driver of a pick ? up truck driven by Kenneth Turner of r 1 North Webster was northbound at the time and unable to stop in time to avoid collision with the left side' of the auto.
Helping Hands go shopping The Milford Helping Hands 4-H dub went Christmas shopping on December 7 in South Bend. On December 17 the club held a Christmas party in the home of Melissa and Melodie Tom. Mrs. Jr., served chili before the 4-H’ers went Christmas carding. Later a gift exchange was held. The next meeting will be on January 14 in the home of Laurie Virgil. Legion auxiliary holds annual holiday meeting
The American Legion Auxiliary, Wawasee unit 223, at Syracuse met at the Legion home on Tuesday, Dec. 17, for the annual hdiday meeting. Due to conflict of other local activities, especially the music program of the junior high school, only nine members were in attendance. Without a quorum, some

business was left unattended. Various reports were heard and the Christmas gifts sent to the veterans homes. Christmas plates were made of fruit and cookies, and taken to area World War I veterans and some members who are ill. Refreshments were served and Santa helped with a gift exchange.
