Greet Santa at Syracuse at 12 noon Friday

SYRACUSE - The retail merchants of Syracuse have organized to hold their second annual pre-Christmas sale, to be known as “An Old-Fashioned Neighborhood Christmas.'* Stores in uptown Syracuse and Wawasee Village are jointly participating in the venture that b aimed at stimulating retail sales. As a result, Syracuse merchants have planned their promotion to begin the day after Thanksgiving and last up until Christmas Eve. Santa's Coming And, of course, Santa Claus will be coming to the Syracuse community. He will arrive at noon on Friday, Nov. 29, to greet the kiddies at the entrance of his workshop, in the Pickwick Place gazebo. He'll have a little surprise for each one and will be *

receiving Christmas gift lists from the youngsters. He will make his appearance on a Syracuse fire truck. Then at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, the 29th, Santa will also be present for the Christmas tree lighting in Pickwick Place. Part of the Wawasee high school glee club will be on hand Friday evening to sing Christmas cards, to give the evening an authentic Christmas holiday ring. Chuck Clevenger, a Pickwick Place retail merchant and spokesman for the merchants' Christmas promotion, said merchants are planning some type of Christmas promotion each week end to focus attention on the Syracuse community as an excellent place for people to do their Christmas shopping.
