Scott A. Popenfoose Services were held Saturday for five-year-old Scott Allen Popenfoose, son of Jerry and Judith (Jones' Popenfoose of r 2 Syracuse Death was due to an accidental shotgun blast Wednesday afternoon in an adjacent mobile home belonging to the grandparents. Investigators reported Scott and his brother. Terry. 11. were in the mobile home alone and the discharge from a .12 gauge shotgun struck the youth in the chest He was pronounced dead . at the scene by county coroner Kenneth Wyman and deputy coroner Gary Eastlund The tragedy occurred around 3:15 pm Kindergartener Scott Allen was born at Goshen

Death came Tuesday following a four-year period of illness He was born in Elkhart countyon February 6.1907 and ret ired as a foreman at Elkhart Lumber and Sawmill where he was employed for 40 years. He was a member of Castle United Methodist church His marriage to the former Ida Maxine Poling took place in Warsaw on December 4.1937. and she survives Mr Whetten was a
member of the Elkhart Moose lodge Also surviving are a daughter. Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Conde of Elkhart; a stepson, Allen Craft. Elkhart; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Miriam Hapner of Goshen. Interment was in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Jesse R. Dunman Services were held Tuesday for Jesse R Dunman. 65. Warsaw and father of Mrs. Ora (Dee) Lockridge of North Webster. Death came Saturday following an illness of nearly 14-years The former editor and publisher of the Sanderson Times at Sanderson. Texas, and formerly affiliated with the Del Rio Texas News-Hereld and the University of Texas publication, the Daily Texan. Mr Dunman had resided at Warsaw for the past five years. He was born in Concho county. Texas, on March 24. 1909 to Jesse and Sue Dunman. His marriage to the former Marilyn Blackwelder took place in 1946 and she survives In addition to the wife and daughter, he is survived by one grandson and a sister in Texas. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery Mrs. Eugene Mabie Services were held Monday for Mrs. Louise Mabie. 63. r 1 Warsaw and formerly of the Syracuse community. Death
came Friday evening at W’arsaw and was due to complications following a stroke. Born in Elkhart county on February 13. 1911 she was a daughter of George and Hattie (Bunger) Darr. Her marriage to Eugene Mabie took place in 1940 and he survives. A housewife, she had resided in the Barbee Lake community for the past 19 years moving from the Syracuse area. She was a member of the Barbee Community church. Barbee con- , servation club, and the homemakers club. In addition to the husband, she is survived by three sons. Robert W Miller of New Athens. 111., and Roy and Dale Mabie, both of North Webster; two daughters. Mrs. Dwight (Arlene) Brooke of r 1 Mentone, and Mrs. Larry • Shirley) Stevens, r 2 Warsaw, eight grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; one niece; and one nephew Interment was in Solomon Creek cemetery north of Syracuse. Elva Wiggs Funeral services will be held in the First Brethren church at Milford at 2 p.m. Thursday for Elva Charlene Wiggs, 65. Milford. Mrs. Wiggs died at 5:20 a.m. Monday in the Goshen hospital after an illness of one month. She was bom near Milford or .August 24. 1909 to John Wesley and Myrtle (Pinkerton) Charlton. The deceased had lived in Fort
Wayne. Warsaw and Milford. She married Otto Wiggs on November 29, 1928. Mrs. Wiggs had been secretary at Little and Clark. Inc., for a number of years. She was a member of the First Brethren church and its Women’s Missionary Society. She was serving as president of the Sorosis club of Milford at the time of her death. Surviving with the husband are two daughters. Mrs. Joe (Pat) Schrock of Goshen and Mrs. Donald (Sue) Wolferman of Milford; one son. Duane of Milford; eight grandchildren, and one brother, Frank of Milford. Two brothers preceded her in death. Friends may call at the Mishler funeral home in Milford today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Rev. Albert Curtwright of Burrlington. former pastor of the church, will officate at Thursday’s services. Clarence E. Fudge Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday for Clarence E. Fudge. 66. 3004 Dykstra St., Goshen. Mr. Fudge passed away at 8 a m. Sunday at the Turtle Creek Convalescent Center in Elkhart where he had been a patient since October 17. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Fudge was the son of Samuel and Daisy (Smith) Fudge and was bom on May 12, 1908 in Milford. Survivors include his widow, Ruth, who is also a patient at the convalescent center in Elkhart, and a half sister. Mrs. Merle Campbell. Sr., Milford. Rev. Amos Bauman officiated for the funeral service and interment was in the Milford cemetery. Louise Tom Death claimed Mrs. Louise Tom. 80.7515. Elm. Nappanee, a former Milford resident. She died at her home at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. She had been ill for the past two years, suffering from a stroke and complications. Mrs. Tom was born in Nappanee on June 25.1894 to Carl and Christina (Vath) Knobel. She and Earl Tom were married on April 17,1938. He preceded her in death in September of 1954. Mrs. Tom moved to Nappanee from Milford 18 years ago. She was a past matron of OES chapter 367, Nappanee, a member of the Lyceum club; the MerryJaynes of Milford; and a lifetime member of the Saint John s Lutheran church. Surviving are three brothers, Albert Knobel of Lake Worth. Fla., Karl Knobel of Nappanee and George Knobel of Indianapolis; one sister. Miss Kathryn Knobel of Nappanee. Friends may call at the WrightYoder funeral home in Nappanee after 2 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. David Eastes of the Saint John’s church officiating. Burial will be in Union Center cemetery. Marie (Wirt) Sherman Marie (Wirt) Sherman. 75. of Garrett, mother of Mrs. Raymond A. (Laura) Hoover of Milford, passed away November 10. Death occurred at 8:30 a m. in her home and was due to cardiac arrest. Mrs. Sheman was born in Virden. HI., on October 12,1899 to James and Hanna Wirt. She was married on May 31. 1924 to Rev. Russell A. Sherman. He had pastorates in the New Salem. Bethel and Syracuse Churches of the Brethren. The Shermans were summer residents at Camp Mack between 1925 and 1955. Mrs. Sherman was a member the Church of the Brethren, a Manchester college graduate and a life member of the Literary club of America and the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Surviving with the daughter are a son. Marvin R. Sherman. Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held at the Cedar Creek Church of the Brethren. Garrett, on November 13 with Rev. Kenneth Hollinger officiating Interment was in the Union cemetery in Garrett. Mrs. G. M. Brower Mrs Agnes L. Brower. 61, 51 North Shore drive. Syracuse Lake, passed away around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at Elkhart hospital. In failing health for the past year, death was due to complications of leukemia Mrs Brower was bom on April 4.1913 in the Milford community, a daughter of Roy and Anna (Crowl ) Pinkerton and resided in the Syracuse-Milford areas all of her life. Her marriage to Guy Maxwell Brower took place on April 4,1936 and he preceded her in death in June of this year She was a housewife and member of the Syracuse-Wawasee Garden club Survivors include two sons. Florence Click of Syracuse was admitted to the Whitley Cointy hospital early last week. Lois Lundy of North Webster was admitted to the Whitley County hospital late last week Cynthia Blue of Leesburg was dismissed from the Columbia City hospital last week. Rhonda Housouer of Syracuse was admitted to the Bremen Community hospital at Bremen last week George Scott, formerly of Milford, is a patient at the Veterans hospital in Fort Wayne. His room number is 4W-725 and he would enjoy hearing from all his friends in Milford. Mrs. Raymond Custer of r 1 Milford was dismissed from the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis on Sunday, Nov. 17, and is recuperating at her Milford home. She must remain in bed most of the time but would welcome visitors. Kent Stichter of Milford is a patient at the Goshen hospital where he underwent surgery on November 17. He is in room 320.
