See story elsewhere on other Warriors named and complete conference information Recognition Sight The Warriors held their annual school recognition night last night (Tuesday) for the varsity, junior varsity and freshmen teams The most outstanding receiver trophy went to Jon Owens Dave Wollman was awarded the outstanding linesman trophy and the captain's award, a gold star for his letter jacket, for leadership and good mental attitude The awarding of the outstanding back trophy was a tough decision Coach Hal Traviolia said he had "two backs that he wouldn't trade - ' and that together they made 2,500 yards of the team's total of 2.900 The two players were so close, in fact, that coach Traviolia could have flipped a coin, but he finallynamed Mark Smith as the recipient of award Due to a vote by the letterman's club, the most valuable player will not be announced in any sport until the big ail-sports recognition night next spring Adding a bit of humor to the recognition was the lineman's dream award, which went to John Fisher The award was for his big interception during a game and his "decisiveness" after he caught it The award was the movie film of his return Freshmen Indefeated The freshmen were undefeated this year with a 7-0 record, they've had only one loss in the last two years The squad outscored its opponents 125-48. and was coached by George

The team realized early it was a "marked squad ” Coach Traviolia said, "the fact that we

were able to do so remarkably well stems from the desire of these young men ” Wawasee played and thought as a team all season. There were no individuals The team’s feeling, according to Traviolia was "We win . We lose.” Traviolia also pointed out that a school with a strong varsity will generally have a strong JV; “if the varsity plays against nothing, it plays like nothing.” He further stated. "The JV made the varsity what it was.” Seniors honored were Uvi Carvajal. Rick Dahlstrom, Gary Dean. John Fisher,. Al Kitson, Bryan Lemberg. Jeff Lovellett. Joe Melendez. Dan Miller. Jon Owens. Wawasee’s principal Henry L. Smith summed things up well earlier in the evening and gave the young men a start toward next year when he stated, "We’ll be back.”

CISCO CATCH — Elsie Bontrager and Russell Homan of Milford are shown above with Cisco which they caught last week. Many persons claim Cisco does not exist in this area. Miss Bontrager and Homan offer their catch as evidence that they do exist. The pair netted 33 of the fish and are holding the largest ones which came from Waubee Lake. Others were caught in Lawrence Lake. Homan explained the white fish (Webster describes it as herring of the Great Lakes area) won't bite on a book, unless a fish eye is used, so the deep water fish is netted. The netting season is November 1 to December 31.

Warriors lead NLC team with six players named JL
A total of six Wawaiiee Warrior football players wen; named to the Northern Lakes Conference first team last Monday night during the conference’s fall sports banquet at North Wood high school. Wawasee players lud the team with four players being named from North Wood and four from Rochester. The remaining eight players were from Plymouth, Warsaw. Concord and Bremen with no Manchester players being named to the lirst team. Warriors on the first team are as follows: Dave Wollman. tackle, six foot, four inch. 205 pound senior, offense, first team line; Mark Smith cuarterback. senior, first team back, offense; Rick Dahlstrom. fulliiack, senior, first team back, offense; Rich Wuthrich, senior, first team line, defense; Brian Lemlierg, senior, first team line, defense; and Ralph Reiff, junior first team back, defense. No injuries in 4-vehicle chain mishap Tuesday
No injuries were sustained in a four-vehicle chain accident on South Huntington street in Syracuse-, near Baltimore street, at 4:10p.m. Tuesday. All vehicles were northbound at the time. First in line was a 1969 Ford operated by Barbara Kauffman. 36, 513 S. Main. Syracuse, who was stopped for oncoming traffic. Stopped behind the Kauffman vehicle was a 1969 Ford driven by Rex Westerman. 24. 100 W. High street, Syracuse. Also stopped and behind the Westerman car was a 1973 Gremlin driven by Gary L. Schlabach. 19, Millersburg. The fourth vehicle involved was a 1972 Chevrolet driven by Daniel Adams. 16. 524 S.
