Dear Editor: After reading the column in your issue of November 13, 1974 on the protesting of literature read at Wawasee high school. I felt inclined to express my views on this subiect As a graduate of Wawasee, I have also read the book in question and I don't feel the protests being lodged are totally valid This book, "Os Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, is a great work of literary art It expresses the feelings of many people during a time when this great country was in a tiirmoil, much like the one for which we are now headed. Students are subjected to this language in places other than the books they read They won’t be able to go through life without hearing these things The purpose for schools is to make these young adults ready for the outside world These people are the leaders of tomorrow’s world How can they guide the world if they haven't seen all sides of it. Banning books like this will not benefit anyone in anyway It
